Going to Gold Beach OR to work camp...

Joe and I are currently in northern California "work camping" for relatives.
We will be heading to "Turtle Rock RV Resort" in September for a winter work camping job. Hope it doesn't rain as much this winter as last.
But I grew up in Crescent City CA so am familar with the weather.

We try to head over to Brookings from the Rogue Valley as much as we can, but we rarely get to Gold Beach. Let us know how you like the place and we may have to check it out. Our favorite time to go to the coast is fall and spring.

We stayed at the "Honey Bear RV Park" two years ago,it's 7 miles north of Gold Beach. They are a german family owned park with a restaurant on premesis that serves one dinner each evening, same for everyone. Very good food and a song and dance man that tells funny stories then encourages all to dance. The owner is the cook, the song & dance man and janitor/maintenance man. A real fun place.

Laura,
I thought Oregon would be cold during those months. Why didn't you go furthur South.

Depends on your definition of cold. Cold to me is winter in Chicago (lived there and done that). We live in southern Oregon and have only rain and fog to deal with in the winter and maybe a very rare snowstorm. The coast gets a lot of rain but they can also get some very sunny weather for a spell in the winter.

What toolmanroy said is true - it can be nice - not hot but bearable winter wise. We are very tired of the 90 plus heat we have dealt with for the last several months so are welcoming the 50's to 60's.
We are being reverse snowbirds.

Well - last week we had one of those rare snowstorms (more like a dusting).
Was very pretty to watch the snow fall and know that we didn't have to shovel any of it. Got pictures of snow on the beach which is rare.

It has been very chilly - but not as bad as some areas of the country. There is a cold wind blowing today but the sun is shining and no rain is predicted for the next several days.

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Laura

Note - if it had been raining before it froze watch out for ice on your awning covers - we had a gust of wind come through and it blew the large chunk of ice off the living room awning cover and luckily it only hit the picnic table and not the TV - it was over an inch thick in the center.

It has been an interesting week here in Oregon. No part of the state was unaffected, including where you are. It was an ice skating rink for most of the day here. Today it is starting to warm up but we still have 3 inches of snow. We were at the coast one time when the snow was very close but never hit the beach. I bet that is an interesting site.
