hoping to stay calm!!

well it has been a good 3 shows the last 3 weeks and one more to go this coming week. But.... tomorrow I was ask to give a live television demo and to show some of my carvings on chattanooga's channel 9...I have given carving demo's at all the shows I attend but heck, thats different then being in front of 50,000 people!! So I'm asking for alot of support and prayers...That I can bring this off..LOL,,without "freezing" up! Nancy said, "just pretend I'm at a carving show and forget about the cameras"...oh well, easy for her to say!!

Tom, Nancy is a very smart lady. Just give your presentation as you regularly do and enjoy the ride. You have Carol's and my best wishes.

Tom I think you will do just fine. All of us have enjoyed your carvings you have posted on the forum for some time now. I doubt if there is anyone out there knows anymore about carving than you. Your knowledge will give you comfort and peace during the coverage. Just do your thing and enjoy it. JB

Remember they want to learn and all put their pants on the same way you do. Best of luck and since you have done shows this is just a smaller one. Less people in the room. Just someone video taping it.
Oh yes I forgot to say LIVE.
Congratulations and from the quality of your work I can understand why you were chosen.

Will you be able to do a demo for the folks this year in Branson or will your celebrity status cause your appearance pricing to be too expensive---Congrats--I think your work deserves special attention--

Hey gpats..thanks, and sure I will give a demo for you..unlike some in the "senate and congress" I still know who I am and where I came from..LOL., But really I do feel humble and grateful that people enjoys my carvings, altho I still learn as I carve each and every bird and so much more to learn. But I am self taught in what I have learned about carving, birds, and painting of them. And BTW...Is that my "cat" you holding there?? hehe

Congrats on your TV show. I have had to be on TV a couple of times for some charity work. Both times it was stated that it was a live show, but it was taped and edited. Just forget the camera and just explain about the thing you love doing and sharing with others. Your work is beautiful and I am sure is a joy to people that get to own your pieces.

Just cruious, have you ever done a Painted Bunting?

Tom,
The cameras are no problem, but DON'T look at the monitors. Let me repeat, DON'T look at the monitors. Once you look at the monitor you will break out into a sweat and just maybe start stuttering, stammering or freezing.

After a few shows like that, you'll be able to look at the monitor and chide yourself on how well you look!!!!

Don't ask how I know!

p.s., Disk will be in the mail tomorrow. Enjoy!

I ain't no different than just talkin' to one good ol' boy. I did 28 years on the radio and some TV. I just talked to the microphone like a person and talked to the camera the same. Just look straight at that big ol' eye and smile. If you have a good camera team, they can cover any visual gaffs with cut away shots. Your producer can take care of you.

They don't know what you know, so you are going to educate them. Go for it!!!!!

Tom,

Congrats on the TV show!!! Now all us MOCers can say, "we knew you back when...." I guess this means the price of the birds is going up! Have fun. You do a wonderful job with the carvings and I'm sure the show will go well, too. Break a leg!!

Hey Tom, I wish I had known earlier I would watched for you. I live on Signal Mtn. so I would have watched your show locally. Was it on live? Do they plan on repeating it anytime?

Congratulations Tom! Now I feel even worse that we did not cross paths while we were both at Gulf State Park last winter. Are you going to be there this winter?
