Axel lifting device for bottle jack

After many nights tossing and turning thinking about this, I have come up with my solution to the lifting of the axles to change tires.
I used a 3 point contact device. When you lift, you are parallel with the axle, when lifting, you have a shift of the axle off of that line, so your lifting contact point is narrowed. With the 2" or so bottle jack top, or anything that is fixed, you have tons of weight on a very small contact point that gets smaller as you lift.
My 3 point contact lifts up until there are two, it 'Rock's little.
I think this is safer, stronger and you can straddle the U-rod that attach's to the frame.

Great idea, I was thinking almost the same thing. Mine would have a piece of 4 inch steal pipe cut in half, long enough to have both U bolts inside it, then a piece of 2 inch pipe welded to the bottom to hold the jack(like your bolt).

Now all I have to do is learn to weld.

I think I may have crossed over to another universe... I don't see anything that sparks when abused.

Tom, that is what I thought of at first, but you are then lifting on the 1/4" (maybe 3/16") surface area of the bottom of the two U-Bolts. I just don't like putting all of that weight on such a small area.

So, does the nut fit the threads on the jack? Thinking mine has Acme threads. Nice design, btw.

Thanks Will and Bill, the nut is just a retainer, I ground the threads out of it. I just wanted a secure well for the jack top.

I got it now, does look like an electrical box, but it was all plate steel welded. I am no expert welder by any means, it sticks together and often doesn't fall apart, so I guess it will do.

Ozz---Great idea. I have changed a few tires on my Monty and this device would make the jack to axle alignment much better. I have a nephew who is a welder and I will see him soon---Another Christmas present for the RVer!
