Protecting Graphics

Does anyone have any suggestions of something to put on the graphics to keep them from drying out and peeling away from the sticky backing?

I can't speak for the longevity, but with our new rig, I am now covering all of the graphics with 303 protectant. It will be a yearly exercise and hopefully the results will be favorable.

I use Craftgate waterless wash and wax. Works well on plastics, decals, fiberglass, wood, countertops, TV, glass, etc. Just spray it on, wipe with one microfiber cloth, and use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe off. You can view more info (including videos) at the following link:

49merc, you are one of the many that have had or are having peeling graphics. There has been 100 different reasons for it,and as many trials and errors. they have been a problem for many years and am not sure if there is a way to stop it once it starts.

I think your right Joe, once it starts its a problem unless you can trim enough away to get to where it is still stuck down real good. To stop the process from starting, I always have, on any type of decals and vinyl pin stripes, used a liner brush with marine spar varnish and outlined the vinyl, so it is partly on the decal and partly on the backing surface, which seals it and doesn't allow any pealing. With 40 years of owning a sign shop I never had any problems with any peeling when doing this. My sign shop was a hand painting shop, not a vinyl shop, however once in a while I ran into circumstances where the clear varnish was needed. When that was too lake, I removed the decals and hand painted them back on. It is a tedious process but the end results is good. Happy Trails, Steve.

Thanks folks for all the replies. Racerjoe we spend a couple of months in Yuma with our front and drivers side exposed to the sun and at home is the same situation. It started about 3 or 4 years ago and for awhile I would trim the curled edges with a razor blade but I finally gave up as it was a loosing battle. I do have the new ones to put on one of these days so I want to try something to see if they will last longer.

Steve I'm not sure about putting varnish on the edges as I would think that might be harmful to the gel finish. Any thoughts on that? Anyone?

Thanks again,
Bob

I have 2008 3400RL, bought new, waxed annually, well maintained. Montana seems to have more graphics problems than other brands. Was told Keystone changed graphics vendors in 2010, or so. Don't know if there is a solution once it starts. Really bad now after 4+ years. Full body paint on next rig may be solution, but it's way too pricey.
