Microwave Outlet failed

Last night the microwave would not power on. Second time in two months.

As I pulled it out it chirped. Something is loose. So I pulled the RV 20 amp socket out of the wall, KILLED THE POWER to that outlet, and removed the back cover. Yep a loose wire.

The socket uses slide in pressure contact to score the insulation and hold the wire in place. One wire had worked its way to the edge and was making intermittent contact.

I purchased a shallow 90 degree outlet box. The wall is only 2" thick and will not support a full size electrical box. Installed an outlet with screw down wire connection All is good and secure now. Microwave works again.

Great topic for Tips and Tricks at the Fall Rally.
