Emergency Exit WIndow
Our 5th Mountaineer has the large emergency exit window over the bed. We like to sleep with that window open but hate the lame "prop-it-open" lever. Has anyone come up with a way to defeat gravity from closing the window in the middle of the night when you turn over and bump that lever? So far I haven't been robbed of eyesight by getting the lever in the eye, but it's probably only a matter of time until my luck runs out.

I have been trying to figure this out for a while myself. I have a couple of ideas in mind but want ot make sure I don't trade this unit off first.

I haven't tried this, our window is on the opposite side of the room, but would it be possible to use half of a wooden clothspin slid in between the top of the lever and the slot it goes through ? It wouldn't be real pretty, but it would keep the lever in the latched position when accidently bumped.
Just a thought.

Our emergency window is not over our bed on our 3400, it's on the opposite side, so I don't have your specific problem.
I use my wife's deodorant to prop it open. She saw that and asked why in the world I didn't use MY deodorant to prop the window open??? I told her the cap on hers was designed such that it held against the window ledge without slipping, while my cap was too slick. She bought it... so far... I think she's starting to get suspicious. Might need to move to her hand lotion bottle...

my wife made a cardboard 'wedge' to hold ours open. Works fine and cheap to make.

Dave - that's a great idea - I always just had her hold it open. Using a wedge might let her sleep too.

Dave, when we go to humid areas I may have to try the deodorant to prop open the window - may help to keep things dry......

I drilled a small hole in the arm and the latch (actually a couple of holes) and we can pin it open in a couple of positions. But, then again ours is not directly above the bed, so that arm sticking out probably would be a problem for you.
