Sun and Snow within 7 hrs

This is odd... 7 hrs ago, I was laying in the sun on the beach getting a great tan, occassionally wading into the water here at Torch Lake, to cool off. Temps around 74. Beautiful.

Now, winds have picked up from the north 20+ mph. SNOW - and lots of it. Looks like about a quarter inch and building fast. Oh oh. I just buried our snow brushes for the vehicles in the storage shed two days ago. Should have known better up here in N. MI. May have to shovel my way to the beach tomorrow...

It is snowing here in Colorado as we speak. Suppose to get a couple inches by morning.

You guys better clear that stuff out before we southerners come north this summer! It's been in the 80s all week here in Alabama.

What is a snow brush? Is that like a broom?

Sorry... a snow brush is a plastic 24" (or so) bar with a small brush on one end and an ice scaper on the same end, or sometimes the opposite. There are some variations. They are for brushing snow off your car in the morning, and when you get out of work (daily occurrance in snowbelt areas - don't make me explain that), and then after the snow is off, you use the scraper to scape the ice off the front. side, and back windows.

They are carried by every gas station (next to the windshield washer fluid) and in every discount store and hardware store in the northern states from Sept through April (maybe May). There is one in every car.

Judy, we've had some really noice days up here too, for April. 70's and some upper 60's. Lots of sunshine for this time of year. Starting to cool off a little now though - obviously.

Cheryl, where are you located in Colorado? Our daughter lives in Buena Vista, Col., which is central Col. They have been having nice weather there and even went rafting on Saturday and Sunday in the Arkansas river. I couldn't believe that they were already doing rafting this early. I am sure that the water was rather chilly....

HEY, HEY, HEY!!! I wish you folks would watch your language. You keep throwing that 4 letter "S" word like you have no conscience. Some of us went to great lengths to avoid that "S" word this winter and we don't appreciate having to deal with it here. Although here is a lot better than on our windshield or under our tires.........NEVERMIND!

As Dusty said, 80's over the weekend and about three inches of snow on Monday, here in CO. Go figure. My body wasn't ready for a 50 degree swing in temperature!

Just talked with a friend in the Black Hills this afternoon. Lead and Deadwood got 54" of s*** last week and another 10" of it yesterday. Rapid City got another 8" Monday as well. Nothing like getting 60+ inches of the stuff in less than a week. Oh how I miss the days of living in the Black Hills. =)

Ah, the Black Hills. Visited there two summers ago (last week in June) and Park Ranger gave a speech where he said that they had two seasons -- Winter and July. Since it wasn't July yet, we had best be prepared. Sure 'nuff, next morning we had 3 plus inches of white stuff on ground and more fell for the next day. Of course, we had looked at Rapid City, seen 80 and 90 degree days so packed the wrong stuff. Oh well - we all need the moisture and what falls up there will fill the lakes and ground water tables so LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW. Just pray it doesn't warm up too fast - sure don't wish anyone any flooding!!!!!

Held a big going away party for the snow brushes last October when we left for the warmer climate of SW Florida, now, looking at the weather forecast for next week in Central Illinois and Indiana, I'm a thinkin I maybe shouldn't have given them to the neighbor!

Will you guys give it up.It was in the 70's two days ago and we are having a ICE storm, low of 27 tonite. The Indians are playing Boston downtown and the fans are dressed like it is a football game in December. And I have
a field trip to the Rock and roll hall of fame tomorrow in the same area....

Well down here in Dixie we have finally put winter behind us. We have a COLD FRONT coming through tomorrow and will see night time lows in the 60's. I pulled the boat out of the shed this afternoon and my dad and I will have to try a little fishing later in the week. The thing that is bothering everyone here right now is the pollen. Everybody has a case of the sniffles.
