Found a bug in the Main AC unit

This weekend the main AC unit started smelling hot and would not kick on the compressor. The mobile repair guy just left after replacing the start capacitor. After looking inside the end of the capacitor I discovered about a dozen very charred and crispy Japanese beetles (false lady bugs) smoldering bug link and charred bug link An expensive lesson in preventative maintenance. Mobile Service call including new capacitor and a pressure check 196.00, one warm day without AC= a teaspoon of sweat, finding the cause was those damned Japanese beetles=priceless. If you think they stink when you smash them, try frying them along with capacitor electrolyte.... YUMMMMM!

Possibly they would be better with a sauce on them. Seriously, bugs cause as many problems in these rigs as most other things.

And watch for wasp nest! Was helping a friend replace a broken AC cover. He was not physically able to climb on top of his trailer.

I removed the screws and started to lift the cover when wasps started swarming out. Now being on top of a trailer with angry wasp flying around is not a good place to be. But he ran and got a can of wasp spray, threw it up to me, and I managed to slightly lift the cover and spray the nest and a few flying around without getting stung. Not something I want to try again. I wish they had been previously fried.

Finding wasps in the AC are one of my biggest fears when servicing the rig. I always take a can with me.
