Dexter Nev-R-Lube Bearings

Ok all, been doing some research on bearings, repacking, etc.

While I am somewhat mechanically inclined, the thought of manually repacking bearings in the storage lot does not really appeal to me.

I have looked at the Dexter Nev-R-Lube bearings and can see where some folks have had problems wit the 6K axles.

I have the 7K with zero offset.

Is this worth the dollars and lack of maintenance?

Not sure what you're asking but recommend that if you use the nev-r-lube that you put in no more than two squirts, once per year. I no longer use them and just have the wheel bearings repacked every other year.

Not the ez lube with the zerks. Have that now.

Looking at going to the Dexter sealed Nev-R-Lube bearings.

They are good for 5 years or 100K miles.

I was told that the Never Lube are good for about 5 years then you have to replace everything.
If you don't want to do the maintenance then pay someone you trust to do it and know there is lubrication.
My opinion.

I suggest you repack the bearings every year as Dexter recommends or take the chance they will not honor their warrantee. Experience talking!

My 2004 Sunnybrook I just traded in had nev-r-lub. While I never had a problem; there has been some problems. Be aware they are harder to get the wheel off to inspect brakes. If you have to replace the bearings you will need an arbor press.
I prefer the ez-lub. Just do good job cleaning, repacking and torque of wheel every year or so and good to go. How often do you do the same on front wheel bearings on TV if two wheel drive. Not sure about 4x4.
When I get new rv I like to pull all wheels and make sure it wasn't over lubed and ruined the linings. I clean and remove all grease, repack with my grease and pre-load bearings.

I think I remember that there is a weight limit issue with them. Our heavy montana's are at the top end of their capacity. I had them on our old Montana which was lighter. This one is heavy so I did not install them and stayed with eazy lube system.

We had the Never-r-Lube bearings installed on our Monty when we had the IS and Disc Brakes added. I talked to the Mor/ryde Tech about them, his feelings were they were OK for lighter units (we had a 2955RL) but wouldn't hold up on heavier rigs. So on that note I wouldn't consider them on our SOB (16.5K gross).

After your input and a little more research, I am going to have the dealer repack them.

They said they never use the ez-lube zerks. Only pack by hand.

OK have to get two slides adjusted under warranty so it will be there anyway.

This is basically the same response I got at MorRyde when we had the I/S installed and I was asked about which bearings I wanted. I decided against the Never-r-Lube. Personal choice. I am typically under the trailer for an inspection before each trip any ways so now I just grab the grease gun before I crawl under the trailer.

When I had my ceramic tile installation business I bought a Wells Cargo utility trailer and after 2 yrs had the Nev-r-lubes installed. I always hauled close to max rated loads in it, the bearings lasted me about 18 months. Two of the four failed at the same time and I ended up having to replace all four axle spindles. The bearings welded themselves to the spindles. I almost had a fire going. If I had not had several 5 gal buckets of water in the trailer I would have lost it and all my tools. Nope, I would never use those bearings again on anything. My humble opinion only...

I have the E-Z Lube on our trailer. I lube them every so often not on any kind of schedule.

I am going on 4 years and 45,000 miles. I have never removed the bearings from the rear axel and only the outer bearings on the front axel when I put new brake shoes on.

I intend to do the rear brake shoes before the trip back to Nebraska in June.

I lube them in accordance with Dexter’s instructions and haven’t had a problem vet.

Just remember folks, we're talking two (2) different things here: Never-r-Lube Bearings and EZ Lube Spindles
