Monty storage questions
I have a friend who is building a new RV storage facility about 1/4 mile from the lake we are hosting at. Many of the folks who camp here come from Wichita (100 miles), Kansas City (120 miles) or Topeka (60miles) so many folks store their rig here and then just move it to the lake when they camp. He already has a standard covered RV storage lot just up the street from the one he is building. On the new one he's making the stalls 42' long, open on the south (that's the best direction for the winter around here), he's installing 15amp service so someone can run their refrigerator and charge batteries between trips to the lake and the rent on each RV stall will include a seperate locking room where things like a grills, smokers or other things could be stored (probably even a jet ski or two). He's also making the payment system web bases so if you get up here and the gate won't let you in, you can make a payment from your phone and get in anyway. He asked me what he's left out that would make his lot even more attractive, so I'm asking for your help. Ideas please.

Manned 50 cal. machine gun towers, laser guided thief seeking missiles, razor wire on top of 12' tall fences, Claymore's, loose hungry rabid dogs, punji pits, and a decommissioned police cruiser parked at the entry gate.
But being serious, the electrical service is a great idea. My last storage area was near perfect, roofed over, two dump stations, two wash downs, plenty of room to get in and out of your area, gated and 32 surveillance cameras, bright lights, but no electric. They had one break in, but the thief got caught in the barb wire and the police helped him out.

I was going to suggest offering a place that folks could (pay) to wash their rigs before parking them. Having a nose cap full of bugs kills the decals over the years. Sounds like a nice place and a great deal of thought has gone into it by the owner/developer. Best of luck!

Just some consideration so that parking is as easy as possible, for example, diagonal parking vice straight, and plenty of swing room.

I would also add spaces that are wide enough. Around here when I was looking, everything was really narrow so you probably couldn't even get into the door if you needed to.

He's actually got the spaces 12' wide. Could be wider, but space is money. At least you can get the door open.

Space is money, but I would never store mine where I could not open my slides.

My place has room for the slides and the power is 30AMP. If I need to work on the rig, I can use a single AC unit. Important here in FL!

Walt, the only problem is when you have a "neighbor" who has parked too close to you...as has happened in the past!

We love to be able to wash our Monty after a trip and our storage place has no problem with us doing that. Also we love that it is wide so we can put out our slides to load and unload before trips. Wish it had electric hookup we take our generator.
