Question on insurance

Do you all recommend: #1. Good Sam's road service insurance?
#2. Good Sam's emergency health insurance? I'm not sure about the correct title of this)
I haven't researched them yet, but I think Glenn has the first item, and I thought I read the road service was $44.00 a year?
We have a measly $100.00 flat coverage with State Farm.
I know this was covered some time ago, but I would like your opinion on the above based on your experience with the insurance.
Thanks, Ozz

Ozz,

We have the Good Sams road service. We have not had to use it yet but we were in a position that if we had it we could have had a wrecker or someone else change our blow out on the FW. We thougt we had the roadside assistance but actually only had the discount for the campgroungs. Something that you should consider when you are looking at this coverage is that it includes all of your vehicles. If you break down or lock yourself out of any of your vehicles you just call GS and give them you card number. I wish I had this coverage the last time I locked myself out of my Tahoe

We have the road service, covers ALL our trucks, cars, trailers. LOVE it, and they will even haul you out of a muddy hole in your own yard! (yep, it happened) Came to my rescue one hot summer morning when I had a flat on the Escort, I was alone, they were there in less than 30 minutes and I was on my way in no time. I was out on a back country road when that one went flat.

Also have added the emergency medical insurance, hope we never need it. they will haul your rig home, get your pets home, get the spouse home, get you to a hospital if necessary (read the policy to verify exact coverages). Have NOT used it, but have it for peace of mind.

Carol

We had dinner with friends that have both coverages, they were new to the insurance, and had no claims yet, so I thought I would throw the question out there to my friends here. Sounds good so far......

Many of us have the Good Sam ERS and like me we all hope we never have to use it. In the years I have been RVing I have heard many many raves and very very few rants about anything Good Sam has and the ERS rates high on most members lists.

BTW-The cost is $99.99 a year but right now they are offreing a $20 discount on the first year. Good Sam ERS

We also carry the GS Emergency Assistance Plus which is another one of those things we hope we never have to use.

I also have GS ERS. Have had AAA Plus and found that it does not cover the 1 tons (especially dually's) - AAA call ctr asked me one time if my truck was a 3/4 or 1 ton - asked why they needed to know and was told that they do not service 1 tons unless I had the RV addition. Even then there was a limit on how far they would tow. Good Sam doesn't have that limit as I recall.

You all have me curious about the GS Emergency Assistance Plus. Have to check into that.

NOTE: Feel the nip in the air. Now is the time to check and ensure no little critters took up residence in your heater's outside air vents -- just something I read on another post earlier that I thought would be an appropriate addition here

Thanks, Skypilot, good advice on the critters!
Yes, I am also interested in the Emergency Assistance Plus. Man, the amount of money we already spend on insurance is mind boggling, but then you get to thinking, what if....
And, that what if, is sometimes far from the friends and family of home base.

We have GS road service and have used it several times (on previous 5er). They are great. We were very impressed with the service, timing, call back to see if we were okay, etc. I think it is the best $100 we spend every year.
Happy trails...........................

Susie,
I just shot off the credit card numbers, got the Road service and the emergency illness deal.
Hope I never use either!

I was hoping the same thing after I fired up our service too.
Turns out I got a phone call while I was at work a couple days ago.
A lady in distress with a flat tire. I had her call in to the emergency service and they came out and put the spare on for her.
By the time I had gotten home, she had taken the flat up and got it repaired and mounted.
Believe me, that put a smile on my face...
