Price of Diesel Fuel!!!!!

I stopped to get diesel fuel today and it has gone up 12 cents in a week! The three closest stations carrying diesel are $3.59, $3.56 and $3.54 per gallon. An INTERNET search says the cheapest in a 5 mile radius is $3.49. Regular gas is $3.22.

Tell me that prices will be much lower if I just get our of the San Francisco Bay area.

It is $3.09 at some stations here in Austin Texas. Some stations have $3.19 listed. I think the new price reflects the new record high for a barrel of oil at the end of trading this week.

Wish I had my own oil wells.

Collen is right, the price of oil it the problem. Part of the problem stems from all the geopolitical unrest in the Middle East and all of the demand forced upon the market by China and India. The other part of the equation is the weakness of the dollar abroad. Oil is traded in dollars and the dollar is weaker against the Euro than ever. I posted a few days back oil will be $100 by spring, it may not wait that long.......

Try Motor Trend.com/gas prices. Then select the state ,county, then city. It gives the lowest prices at the time, off credit card record.

Today in Peculiar, MO at the Flying J diesel is $2.99. It sure is going to make it tough to get to South Texas with diesel that high. I am sure it is higher on the way down to Texas.

Diesel at Wal*Mart here in Pinellas Park FL...

Sept 30, 2.89
Oct 22, 2.98
Oct 26, 3.03
Oct 28, 3.11

And that's the lowest price in a 10 mile radius

Most stations are now pushing 3.20 or higher

Northern CA is $3.59 at most stations. Anyone want to guess when it will hit $4.00. It doesn't seem that long ago ( but it is ) that $4.00 of fuel would last all week.

Dickson Tn was $2.75 a gallon about a week ago. Hang on it will go higher, I think by the first of the year it will be close to a $100.00 a barrel for oil.. We are in trouble as a country. We have to go after more refineries and dig more oil. Since we aren't traveling as much we drive the HHR most of the time 28 to 30 mpg. GBY.....

I guess we should all say a little thank you that a hurricane hasn't hit the rigs in the Gulf or we would be paying even higher prices.

I know that hubby needs to start driving my gas Tahoe instead of his diesel truck. I seem to be having trouble getting him from behind the wheel of that Duramax.

Charlie, I think your prediction of $100 will depend on how cold a winter we have. Sure wish I had more Exxon stock to take up the slack of the rising price of diesel.

Tiffensdad, if you are pulling your Monty behind you that diesel will be alot cheaper than gas, plus your engine will last twice as long if taken care of.

I must reiterate: Why are we concerned about the prices of fuel? If we have to be concerned this much, then I guess we ought to park the rig. C'mon, let's live a little. Let's enjoy the lifestyle and it's a lot more enjoyable if we ignore the changing pump prices.

It is way more than just the price of fuel. The energy prices affect EVERYTNING we use, Food, Clothing , all of our utilities, city services, Etc..Stop and think about it???? The price we pay at the pump is just the tiny tip of a very large iceberg. It is the all over increase in everything we use that will cause us to cut back in all areas. Also the MPG difference betwen the new Diesels and fuel is not what it once was..The big savings is not there anymore. Think about the increases in Campground fees due to higher operating cost that must come about because of the increase in Energy prices. That may cost us more than the increases at the pump. Look at the big picture folks..It is not a pretty sight. As I mentioned before.. the end of our rving experience is not here yet...but..we can see it from here..

Let's add some fuel to this fire. Here in Iowa we just built a bean oil plant to make soy diesel. They tell us we have a shortage in diesel and gas. We also have gasahol plants here. These products are to cut down on foreign oil. I would like to know why are we sending half the production of bean oil OVERSEAS? We also shut down a gasahol plant because it was not profitable to run. Sure we could complain to the government but thats like the fox guarding the hen house. They rob us with out a gun. Now I will get off my soap box. Still just P.O.though.

One of my trader friends says oil will be at the $100 mark in the next couple of weeks. The predictions for gas around here to be at $3.00 a gallon by Wednesday.
I watch the legal notices in the newspaper just because I am nosey. I have been making a mental note at how many homes are showing up in foreclosure. There is no doubt in my mind we are headed straight into a recession and its going to be the early 1980's all over again.
Just my 2 cents.

Paid $2.89 yesterday before taking off from Texas City (TC) (home). Saw the price at $2.99 when I passed the station this morning.

On I-10, $3.04 cash price a Love's near Seguin. Just up the road, saw it for $2.79 at another truck stop. (Forgot the name) Average prices range from $2.89 to $3.18 withing a 200 mile radius of TC.

Don't know why the trucking industry doesn't shut down and get the prices back down. There should be no reason for Diesel to be more expensive than regular, since it cost less to refine diesel.
