Fold up ladder

Does anyone have one of those 7 Foot Stow away fold up ladders that I see advertised at CW. Looks interesting but do they work and are they practicable.

We have the six foot one. It is great. We even use it in the stick house. Folds up easy, yet is sturdy and doesn't take up much room in the basement. We saved the box and it slides right in. We've had it for several years and the box is beginning to fall apart so I had planned on getting out the duck tape before we take off again.
Happy trails........................

I have one but i have only ever had to use it once. That was on our 3295RK before we had slide awnings installed. I used it to access the tops of the slides to brush them off before closing up. I will probably leave it behind this year.

Hi Rich,

& can carry up to 300 lbs, It fits easily in the tool box
in the back of the truck. Heres there website.

We went from the 6' fold up to the 12' telescoping ladder. The 6' was just tall enough to get you up higher than you should stand (like on the top rung) in order to barely reach to clean the tops of the slider awnings. I'm not short - 6' tall, and thinking back, I should not have been up on the top but held onto the slider for balance because in my mind it was something "I had to do." I never fell off but felt like I could. The 12' is a might more expensive but I can reach anywhere on the rig with it & don't have to worry about a hospital stay now. Mike

When you guys use a regular ladder against the side of your Montys, what do you do to prevent damage to the area the ladder rubs on . I am undecided which type of ladder to take along. I am considering that fold up ladder Costco sells because it can be both a step and a regular ladder. Thanks.

Rich, I joined the club then bought the ladder with club discount saved a little $$$. We do not have slide awnings and use it when parked under trees, it is stable and fast to set up and take down. Have plans to mount a vinyl fence post in the top of the basement for storing the ladder. See-Ya

I have the 7' model. Use it periodically. It stows in the basement without problems.

I have a 12 foot telescoping ladder which I consider much better than a folding ladder. I bought it at Ace Hardware on one of their Thanksgiving Day sales. (CW don't sell them).

I use the foam water pipe insulation to protect the trailer. The major advatages of this type of ladder (there are several brands) are that they store very easily, almost anywhere you want to put it, and it is long enough that you can reach the top edge of the roof, even at the front.

They are not as easy to find, but they are worth the search.

To protect the end of the ladder laying against the Monty - old socks. This is a great way to make use of the "odd" socks that end up in the washer.
Happy trails...........................

Old socks??? All my socks are old. Odd socks... I usually just use two odd socks and just wear long pants. Hmm... have to find something else... maybe old underware...

You know, my wife is just soooo lucky to have a husband who has such a great mind to think of these things...

That might me a good thing, before Cheryl comes back from a shopping trip to the camper, and finds me up on the ladder with her underware flying in the breeze... Would keep the Monty from getting scratched, though...

Ed what I plan on is using metal strapping. You can drive a hole in it with a nail or drill it(be careful if you drill it can bit you OUCH). Then I'll rap the vinyl fence post and use metal screws and attach it to the basement ceiling. That the plain have to see as it goes along?See-Ya

Fold up ladder, stow away ladder...Oh boy..will run up to ace hardware and see if they carry the fold up ladder. I sort of liked the way those stow away ladders at CW collapsed..we will have the slide awnings but I suppose stuff will still get under them. Can get on the roof using the camper ladder.12 feet is better than 7 feet...Don't you hate it when you ask a question and get logical, intelligent well thought out replies. I think I am leaning toward the fold up ladder..maybe...I don't know..How high IS the 3400 off the ground..ground to higest roof line..best guess will do.no Montana Sky.. do not use this as a excuse to pull your camper out of storage.

Hi Al,

There are two sizes in 12' High
one has a 250 lb capacity
one has a 300 lb capacity
The 250 lb one was on sale for $209.00 Canadian.
The 300 Lb one was on sale for $259.00 Canadian.
Probably a lot less there as they're imported to
Canada through a company in Mt. Vernon, Washington.
I went in just to look at one and bought it right away.
I was impressed how they are made. You just have to make
sure the rungs are locked into place before you climb up it.
It tells you all that in the manual.
