We have a 2019 3121RL and had a problem with our bedroom AC short cycling on auto. We turned our vents on ceiling to point away from thermostat and put some painters tape over several of slots on edge of thermostat and so far so good. Seems to cycle like it should.

Lots of good help on this forum, thanks everyone! We got our 50 amp service done now and on Friday we turned both AC's on automatic, it was about 85 degrees and slightly humid. After about 5 minutes the living room unit started cycling in short intervals. the bedroom seemed to be working fine. After removing the return vents we saw the insulation was just about completely blocking both of the living room vents and one of the bedroom vents so we did the pvc installation and now you can hold a paper towel near the return vents and it gets pulled up tight so there is a huge improvement. We also cut out every other vent slat on four of the seven discharge vents and that also made a huge difference so now things seem to be working fine.

I believe we also got our bedroom AC issue resolved as I posted a little earlier today, but I am confused. Would someone please explain the 'pvc' thing to me? perhaps I missed something and just not connecting.

Thanks

Yes, and some pix if you have them.

John, I haven't done this myself, but this is what I think the "pvc" thing is. The flat-shaped rectangular ducts that go from the air intake registers to the A/C unit are mashed closed by the roof and roof insulation. By inserting rigid pvc piping (of the right dimension) into those ducts, it holds the mashed ducts open to increase air intake flow.

John. Cut 2 inch PVC into 6 to 8 inch lengths and insert into the return ducts. I used 3 pics end to end in each duct.

Wayne,

Would you please send a couple of pictures showing what you are describing. I am a firm believer in pictures helping to tell a story and I believe myself and others would benefit from your effort.

Thanks in advance.

John

We were not able to use 2" pvc as that would be too large of diameter, instead we used 3/4" schedule 80 electrical conduit as we had it laying around. The outside diameter is about 1-1/8" and fit snug. I cut them at 11" which is about as long as I could to get them in the rectangular openings for the vents. Its plenty wide now and it made a huge difference. Also we have the Legacy package with supposedly more insulation in the roof?
