New Carpet for a 3400RL

The wife wants new carpet in our 07 3400rl. I have to admit that the carpet is low to marginal in quality and has no real pad, just a thin layer of soft foam. Has anyone had this work done in a satisfactory manner? If so please let us know where. We are going to be traveling in the next few months from Boston to the general direction of Las Vegas. Would like to have it done in route.

Thanks for any responses.

Jim,
I would think that any good carpet place would be able to install whatever you wanted. Berber comes to mind.

Rather than go to LV, why don't you just send one of the casino's a check and go have fun at a CG? Maybe you could write it off as a contribution to the un-needy!

JimF,
We have an 06 and I was planning to do the same next year. My only head scratching was how the slides play a role in the selection and installation of the flooring. Steve

Wayne, from what I have read on the subject a regular carpet installer won't come close on doing a competant job on and RV. Also, re: LV, I have never been in or will go into a casino, my son, daughter-in-law and 6 grandkids live in LV. We will be down there so we can move your potty in that 3400 before the winter is over.

Jim, I was told by my dealership that there are regular carpet stores that do have experience with RVs and that do a very good job. May need to ask around. The service mgr at our dealership had his Montana done by a local carpet place.

Not on Tana, but on prior unit, a no slide TT, we had the carpet replaced. Went to the local carpet sales store, not a chain store, an independent. In talking to them we found they had a couple of installers that worked on boats. Boats = RV's. Not much difference. The installer did a great job.

Al and I removed all the old, pulled tacks, nails, all that stuff, ourselves. Cleaned it all up and the installer came. He worked a long time, so much cutting and working in small places (like around the bed, whewie). But, we loved the end result.

Because there were no slides we were able to get really thick, nice, expensive, wonderful carpet. That carpet will be around long after that TT rots away!
