Lippert pin box
I am looking to find out if my '08 2400rl has a lippert 1621 or 1116 pin box. I have a chance to pick up a TrailAir Air Ride 21K from the local Craigslist. 21K seems to be a little overkill but there is a Moryde 19k on the rig now. Is there anyone on here that can provide some insight to this? I am pretty sure I have the 1116 Lippert but don't know for sure.

I can't answer your question. I had a 2955 Montana swapped and got a 323 HC. The HC pin box was about a 1/2 inch wider than the 2955 box. I made 6 bushings to make up the difference to make my Trail Air fit. So if you run into the same problem there is an easy fix.

I think you meant 3400RL. My 05 3400 had the 1116. Mine had a label on it I think. I had replaced it with a rubber pin box. No longer have the 3400 though.

My 2007 3075RL had an 1116 before I replaced it with a 5th Airborne. Still has a tag with the number on it. I can take some measurements off the old one if it will help.

That won't be necessary, I know which one I have now.

Jim, are you wanting to change due to chucking or want a smoother pin ride.
If your Morryde pin is 19K you have a #5 rubber block in the pin assy. On my 19K pin assy, I took the #5 rubber block out and put a #4 in it's place.
Smoothed out the chucking. The rubber blocks have a number molded into the side of them. The higher the number the "stiffer" the rubber is.
Morryde rates the blocks by the GVWR of the trailer it is bolted to. A 14K trailer will get a lower number block than say a 16K trailer.
My GVWR is 16,900lbs thus Keystone used a pin with a #5 block, but knowing how stiff a #5 is, I had it switched to a #4 before I took delivery.

Both of those reasons are why I want something different. I have an older Reese hitch and that could be one of the reasons for the ride problems. That is an interesting thought, about changing the rubber blocks, and worthy of a closer look now. The Air Ride that I found on Craig's list had the wrong model number so I am still lookin. Considering the cost of those, even used, makes me want to try the rubber blocks. Thanks for the input.

Jim, when you drop the pin assy, remove 4 rubber plugs on top of the pin assy. Under the rubber plugs are 4 nuts that holds the top of the rubber part to the pin box assy. Do not unbolt the whole pin box assy from the trailer frame. Just remove the 4 nuts under the 4 rubber plugs.
Next, Remove the 4 bolts on the 2 rods that run front to back at the pin assy. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 2 GUYS ON HAND. The pin plate assy is heavier than you can handle.
Once you drop the pin assy, you can now remove the 4 nuts holding the rubber to the pin plate. # will be on long side of the rubber.
Please do not try to do this with out a helper. The pin plate is heavy.
Jim
