Camping in Leavenworth, Washington St

We are going to spend 3 or 4 days in Leavenworth Washington May 18th to 22nd (Our Canadian holiday weekend). It is a very beautiful Small town up in the Cascade Mountains on Hwy 2. The whole town is done in a in a Bavarian Village theme. Has anyone been up there in the last year? the only campsite near town that I have found so far is the KOA, the rest seem to be 20 to 30 miles from town. Last time we were through there, it was 6 - 7 years ago in August and way too hot. Any input would be appreciated.

We were there last August. There is a beautiful park that I think is called River's Edge. We saw the KOA and it was the pits. Levenworth is a great tourist town. We just love it. If you check way back in our journey you will find a entry all about the area. I do hope you can get into the River's Edge.

John, there is Blu Shastin RV Park (1-888-548-4184 or 509-5484184), and Icicle River RV Resort (509-548-5420). Hope this helps.

John, just curious as to your route. Do you go east in Canada than south or South I-5 than east hwy 2? Try Icicle.

Thanks for the info,
We'll give Icicle a call.
Dick, we usually go across the border at Cloverdale, and down I-5 to hwy 2, We will stop for the night at the casino in Tulalip ( Marysville ), they have great RV Parking, and you never know we might win some gas money on the slots. Ha Ha.
Not sure what route we will return by, we'll figure that out after we get there.

John & Dawn,
I realize this is a month later, but I just saw your post. How was your trip to Leavenworth? We are currently staying at the Wenatchee River County Park (just a few miles out of Leavenworth). We come here & then Lake Chelan every year. Usually it is a bit warmer however, last night we had a Thunder & Lighting & Rain Storm, and looks to be drizzly for the rest of the week, oh well, still lots to see. What we are really looking for is possibly a new site or two to see. We've been to Leavenworth, Ohm's Gardens, Fish Lake, but that is about all. What all did you guys see?

Hi Joy,

Hope the Wenatchee River is down a little lower then it was when we were there. Boy it was just smoking three weeks ago. The water was up to the edge of the camp site you are in. We went to Wenatchee for a day to look around and stopped in at the park you are in. Looks like a nice park, we would stay there next time we are that way, not too far from Leavenworth or Wenatchee. Dawn just loves going through all the small shops in a place like Leavenworth so we spent most of one day doing that. I'm sure MasterCard likes us for that. Lots of hand made crafts. We went out Icicle road to check out the RV park and found a Fish hatchery out there. The day we went to Wenatchee, we went up the west side to check out the View from the top of the hills, and wow you should have seen some of the houses, just gorgeous. On the way back from Wenatchee, we stopped in Cashmere to check out the Aplets & Cotlets factory. Check this out www.libertyorchards.com
This is a place to die for. Great products.
The KOA is the pits but we wanted to reserve a site and we had a KOA card so we ended up there. We were able to use the pool on the Thurs. night, but forget the weekend - full of kids. Next time, the Park you're in or the one in Wenatchee!! Came back home via 90 -hadn't seen the country before, and stayed at Tulalip Casino as we did on the way down. Great place to stop for the night. You Can't get in the Buffet on a Sunday night so spent $200 in the fancy restaurant (never again!!) All in all, enjoyed the short break, but need to find more places to visit next time. Bonus tho - after staying at the Casino 2 nights & getting 1 night free at the KOA, it only cost us $70 for 5 nights camping (not of course taking into consideration the $200 dinner and $40 or $50 lost gambling)

Joy, I seem to remember that there is a Musical nightly in the Mountains of Levenworth. I think it is The Sound of Music. We didn't find out about it until after we left. What a perfect setting for that kind of thing.

Helen,
Your right about the musicals, they will be performing The Sound of Music and The Music Man this year, however.....not until July, and we will be in Chelan with the other two grandkids by then.

I did find a new "antique consignment Mall" though. I took Scott (our youngest grandbaby), with me yesterday and we had a great time looking at all of that "old" stuff. Of Course I couldn't or rather wouldn't have gone if they did not have carts for the little ones. Anyway it was raining here, so it was a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours.

Today, the sun is shinning so.... it is off to the playground and outdoor activities. Maybe I'll take him shopping in Leavenworth, that should keep his eyes a poppin with interest. Then of course it will be back to teaching him how to ride his bike we brought with us. That part happens everyday, rain or shine.
