Black Tank Flush

First time attempting to flush the black tank water on new 3400 sprays out from the water hose connection. Tried other hoses with same result. It seems to spray from both sides of white plastic connection that you tighten. There seems to be a washer in the connection. Any suggestions?

I think it is a bad vacuum breaker. Try and re-seat the washer in it. been a long time since I have laid eyes on it, but I rebuilt mine here at the house.

When you are hooking up the hose to the connector does it get tight. If not I'm betting you are missing the washer. Let us know what you find. Jim

I agree check washer first. I had trouble putting the hose on every time because of the close quarters in conv. center. I found these quick connects at Wally World for $5 each so half is tighten to female connector on 5er and the other connected to your hose. It make very easy for connecting all your hoses. Now you use vasoline to the threads and remove them every year and clean them I also removed the screen from the fitting and put it on my filter system. they get plugged up and you can't get them out at the 5er connection. I also have have two extra if I have any problems when they get worn out the metal is cheap china but they save you so much time and aggravation they are well the $5 each. I've been using them for 4 yrs. good luck Jack

Here is a picture of it showing the internal washer I was talking about:

Vacuum breaker, they are all about the same

Leaks during normal operation may indicate the presence of chemical precipitates or particulate matter which prevent components from seating properly, or defective 0-rings or washers. If leaks are detected, shut off the water supply, remove and inspect the entire HVB-faucet assembly. Replace it if components are defective. Clean it by flushing water through it while working the spring mechanism to dislodge loose particles. If cleaning does not restore it to proper operation, then replace it.

I have re-seated the internal washer with a very small screwdriver, just poke it in all around the internal washer face.

Oh, one more thing, if there is pressure in the hose, which there will be, it will spray out the sides when you un-hook it. You just put a Y-connector at the supply hose-bib. When you are done flushing, take the Y-connector and open the waste side to relieve the pressure: No spraying out the anti-siphon fitting. I learned that the hard way when cleaning rooftop condensers, I would get soaked. Not bad when it's 100 degrees. But I pass in general.

I experienced the exact same problem, not only on the black tank flush but on every connection in the convenience center. They changed the connections from our previous model (2007 3400RL), and they are deeper than before. The solution was really simple. I had to place double washers in all the connections and they no longer spray now. Hope this helps.

I put the 90 or 45 degree extensions sold at CW on , then I applied GERMAN TORQUE (Gutentight). NO leaks since.

Placed another washer in the connection and so far so good! Didn't dump and didn't try the water long not wanting to fill the tank. Tomorrow will dump and will tell but am optimistic. Thanks,

You are welcome.
Would it be possible by installing a second washer, it would defeat the Vacuum breakers operation?
Don't know as I haven't seen the device, just asking.

Ozz,
I don't know the answer to your question about the valve and I would not think the valve would be bad on a brand new model, but I do know that if you look at the newer model hookups, they have substantially more threading than the normal end of a hose has. The net result is the hose never makes contact with the washer and there is no seal. Accordingly when you turn the water on, it sprays everywhere. Engineering expertise and quality control (a very simple check - put a normal hose to it and see if it works) was definitely not applied in this situation. Oddly enough, when we did our walk-through at the dealer, everything functioned correctly, I did not get to see if their hose was different than mine but when I looked at the threads in the connector and compared them to the threads on my hoses (white freshwater and gray flush), there was a very noticeable difference.

Does it look like this?
My Pappy was a Plumber-Pipefitter, he called this a Sherman fitting.
Pipe to hose threads.

Nope,
It is the same kind of white plastic female connection as on our previous 3400, just some new fangled one that is deeper. I am still using the same hoses though.
