An american muscle car again!!
Just saw the actual specs for the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT. 6.2 liter supercharged hemi engine with either 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic transmission delivering 707 horsepower and 650 ft-lbs of torque. Comes with two keys, one of which limits to 500 horsepower. Estimated starting price at $55,000. Available soon (late 2014 release). Already asked DW if she would trade her Suburban on one and received an immediate text reply of "Uhhhh, No!". I can see it now, you pull in for an oil change and have them change the rear tires as well. There are some interesting youtube videos out already! It will definitely burn the tires off! Gonna have to work on DW, she wants a sports car anyway.

I'd like to get my hands on a COPO Camaro. Hand built (the buyer can participate if they wish), but not licensable for road use!

Ah the old days. I have had several cars over the years that put me on a first name basis with the tire store personel. One got so little gas milage that back in the day, we and all of even our distant relatives had multiple sets of steak knives and glasses (for the younger folks out there they actually used to give away stuff when you bought a lot of gas). Just a fond memory now and with our reduced retirement income, not likely to happen again.

The Z06 Corvette has 650 HP. Just wait until the ZR1 comes out. Now we are talking some real HP.

That new Hellcat Challenger is a BEAST first thing I would do is Chuck the 500HP key and throw it in the Junk drawer what they should do also is put that motor in the Viper to bring the cost down on them and they would sell more, I Love the Challenger but would rather have a Viper

On my truck I can load up a tune that will give me 780 HP. That will turn it into a 13 second 1/4 mile truck. NO I'm not going to do that.

Love my new SRT8 6.4 Charger! It's a rare prototype, Hell Cat, built mostly by hand 1/1. Production models will be based on the 6.1 Hemi. We own two SRT's and prefer them over our Chevy Camaro's. My 2010 6.1 is Supercharged and produces 645 HP to rear wheels. Fun x 10! SRT has done a beautiful job make these cars handle well and create a fun modern muscle car! BTW the jury is still out on the "8 speeds" ability to take the tremendous torque. My son has the new tranny in the SRT8 jeep. It's not as quick as the five speeds in the quarter mile, but picks up well after reaching further down the track. Great cars IMHO.

Artemus I'm not sure of what you are saying. Does your Charger produce 645 flywheel HP or 645 rear wheel HP? My truck produces about 600 HP but only about 470 rear wheel HP.
Thanks Lynwood

To the rear wheels, is answer to your question. The HP rating is much higher than the 645. What matters is what the engine produces at the wheels. Dyno testing is only way to know.

My GTO back in 67 that I thought was so fast only had 360 HP and that was net HP. By todays standards it wouldn't be putting out nearly that much power. A 350 HP diesel truck only puts about 285 HP to the rear wheels. 645 rear wheel HP it is putting out about 760 flywheel HP. That as some real power. Have fun enjoy.

That's about right on how we estimate HP! It's a lot of fun owning these new muscle cars! I try to keep the cars somewhat "pristine and don't abuse them". I have to be completely honest, I don't have the nerve, I did 25 years ago! These things are more techno than our old school, but can still scare the C out of you! Lol. I own them and have been lucky to sell them for good profits. I wished I still owned my 1971 455 SD Formula Firebird. It's worth 500 k today! Lol.

I used to look in the paper every day at the Corvettes. Then about 35 years ago I went to work for myself and forget about the Corvettes. After A few years I picked up the paper and looked at the Corvettes again and made an amazeing discovery. They had become a plastic car that you couldn't haul but two people in. I wonted one until I could actually afford it. I still think it is a great car just don't won't one now.
