Lighting and electrical improvements

We went to the salvage yards and picked up a few things...

Our curio cabinet now has lighting from below and has its own switch, separate from the light under the overhead cabinet...

And the result, with no wires showing...

We added an outlet for a Nook...

Added another light above the sink...

Added another light in the hall/bedroom...

Added lights for the shower...

Separated the entry light from the kitchen...

Swapped out the light fixture above the desk (moved it to over the dining room table)...

Some of you remember that we put the 12v LED rope lighting under the counter lip a couple of years ago, but thought I would post again...

and that we wired in a step light to the porch light switch a couple of years ago, as well...

Added a light behind our modified bedroom TV cabinet...

And all lamps are LED so we can boondock on two golf cart batteries for a long time. The kitchen LEDs are 240 lumens which are about the same as a 20 watt halogen bulb. The rest are 200 lumens which are brighter than the OEM 10 watt bulbs.

Here are the amperage readings without any light on and then with all of them on for the entire 5th wheel (converter was reading 13.8 volts):

Mike & Kat, how did you get your wiring to all the ceiling locations? Nice work!

Very nice job. That up-light shows good on the Lalique.

Bob,

We used a fiberglass fish tape - the kind you get at a hardware store for a few bucks. Then we went from fixture to fixture to...you get the idea. It wasn't that hard; it just took some time.

Sue & Jim,

Nice catch on the Lalique - it does illuminate nicely, doesn't it.

Mike, did you get all the led lights at the salvage yard also? I would like to replace all the halogen can fixtures with soft white LEDs. it would drop 12v usage by 80 percent. I want soft white as the the bright white are too blue and harsh on the eyes at night.

Dave,
I used 12 volt soft white LED rope lights under the kitchen counter after I stole the idea from Michael & Kat. I like the soft amber light they emit.

Jim, I want to replace the can lights, they are too hot and the bulbs cost too much. Rope lights are ok for mood and night light but I need to get the cans out of the rig...

Dave,

Heat and amperage use were the driving factors on replacing the halogens with LED. Also, you can put only so many of those amp drawing halogens on one circuit and we wanted more light. We like the way the cans look, but like you wrote, the halogen bulbs were expensive and kept going out about every six months. We figure we're ahead with the LEDs because they're only about $9 each and after six months they're still working (and should for a very long time).
