2955 slides

Anyone know of a way to manually open bedroom slide, this is a 2005 2955, pump runs and slide opened 6" then stopped, pump resevoir is almost empty, I nee to see if hydralic is leaking under bed, woould be easier to do with slide open, Thanks for the help.

So, was the reservoir near the top when you started? Make sure something is not under the bed, jamming the slide. You should be able to remove the 1/4 plywood from over the cylinder and check it, even with the slide just 6" out. I'm thinking you might be able to assist it a little a get it to go out. Get DW to operate the switch, and push on it. Just make sure she ain't mad at you and runs it in!

The bed room hydraulic ram is contained in/under the bed. Remove the bed, remove the struts that hold the bed up then the plywood, the ram is under the storage area in the bed framing. Hopefully the ram has just broken from the bed frame?

If the fluid is that low, it had to have gone somewhere. It might not have leaked at the bedroom slide, but at any of the other locations or the main pump area and any of the fitting. I'm afraid there might be any number of places to look than the last slide.

As for extracting the slides manually, my manual suggests a fitting at the rear of the pump to put in a proper bit and use a motorized drill to extend or retract the slide. Check the end of the pump on the opposite side of the reservoir for a place to do this.

I can certainly see that the slides being extended will probably help find a problem.

You're joking huh? If the pump operates electrically, what good will turning it with a drill do?

OK just to let you know what I found, a hole chewed in the hose going to the living room slide, main power wire chewed, and two small wires chewed in two, pesky gray, yes gray, squirels got into the fron compartment and had a litter which I had to evict them, one baby was still there but gone now. All repairs have been made.

SlickWillie... I try and not joke about someone's problem, and I'm not sure what I said that I was creating a joke.

The OP was asking how to retract a slide manually and also mentioned that fluid was low and didn't mention an electrical problem. My Monty's system is very similar, but may not be the exact same as his - has an electric motor that operates a pump for hydraulic fluid to push the slides in and out. According to my user guide, it states to extend or retract slides manually to put a bit into the end of the motor and turn it by using a drill (plug in or battery). I was trying to answer the the OP's question on how to operate the slides manually by providing what's stated in my user guide.

The good news is he found not only the fluid leak but electrical problems as well and got it all taken care of. Sounds like them squirrels were joking around and it wasn't that funny.
