Furnace fan runs with breaker out!
Just brought home our 08 3400 and getting it ready to go. While plugged into shore power and checking things out, the furnace blower kicks in while I'm outside. I run in and checked the furnace and it's in the OFF position. I then went to the 15 amp breaker for the blower and pulled it out. It turned red, and yet the blower keeps running! How could that be?
The burner doesn't kick in because I have the thermostat off. Anybody know what's going on?
Confused in Ohio. D

Maybe has something to do with the thermostat setting??

I wouldn't have thought that the thermostat would have anything to do with it since the furnace was in the off mode. In fact I did then turn the thermostat on and turned it down below the ambient temp, and then turned it off. I checked and even though the blower kept running, the burners never kicked on. I still think it quite strange!

The blower will run for a period of time after the heater shuts off to cool things down.

If you pulled the right fuse, the only way the blower can be running is that the power has to be coming in from a shorted low voltage wire, possibly from the A/C (crossed internally in the thermostat) Pull the power to the A/C unit and see if you can duplicate the problem.

Thanks Ozz, will give it a shot. Like I mentioned above, I hadn't even run the furnace, was never on in the first place, completely off. Maybe that's why the battery has been so run down and I keep charging it.

I'm confused. When you say you removed the 15-amp breaker and the furnace blower still runs, the blower runs on 12-volts dc. I don't have a breaker on my furnace. It is fed by a 15-amp fuse. So removing the breaker, any breaker would have no affect on the 12-volt furnace blower.

I would bet you killed the DC circuit to something else. Just because it is labeled furnace doesn't mean that's where the old world craftsman wired it. I've seen some amazing stuff behind one of those panels.

Orv, he said he pulled it and saw the red, so he didn't mean breaker, he meant fuse. That is confusing.
Will is correct, that's why I said (If) he pulled the right fuse, BUT, there is a short somewhere, or the fan wouldn't be running with the thermostat shut off.
Gremlins, or armor coated bugs....
