Route advice

We will be going to Gordonsville Va. We will be going 81 South. So my question is, has anybody use route 33. We would pick it up around Harrisonburg and travel southeast towards Gordonsville, Va. What kind of road is 33? OR Would it be better to use route 64 to route 15 to Gordonsville. The route using 64 is about 50 miles more.

thanks for your support, kevin

Kevin, Route 33 from 81 is not the best road as it is narrow and crooked where it crosses the Blue ridge Mtns. I would take 81 to Rt I66 to Rt 17 to Culpeper, Va then 15 to Gordonsville. The other is 81 to 64 to 15 but that is a little longer.
17 from 66 to Culpeper is 4 lane and then Rt 15 is 25 miles of 2 lane but good road.

Kevin - I agree with the above route via I-66 however, to clarify, I-81 south to I-66 east to US-17 south to US-29/US-15 south to US-15 south at Culpeper to Gordonsville. You will actually pass within a couple of miles of our stick-built here in Warrenton, Va. Have a good trip and wave as you pass through Warrenton!
