My Garmin 650nuvi started being temporamental. Sometimes the touchscreen works and other times it does not. Anybody else have this problem? It is only 2 years old.

I had a garmin do the same thing. The only fix was send it back for repairs. The repairs turned out to be a new unit. I was lucky mine was under a two year warranty that was about to run out. You can call garmin support and they might be able to help you. They did give me some things to try before telling me that I had to return the unit.

Thanks for the reply. Was figuring that is what I would have to do. Did Garmin replace yours or fix it?

I finally bit the bullet and retired my Garmin Street Pilot 2720, replacing it with a brand spankin' new Nuvi 765T. This was a couple of weeks ago. It had a problem and I contacted Garmin. They were very helpful. They were willing to exchange it either of two ways. I could send them mine and then they'd send a new one. Or, I could give them a credit card number and they'd send me the new one and then I'd send them the defective one. If I don't return the bad one, they charge my card. I chose the latter method because we are in an unfamiliar area and the bad one still worked most of the time. They had the new unit to me in two days. I paid $9.19 in UPS charges to send the defective unit to them.
Give them a call. They're very helpful people. Their customer service I've found to be top notch. And I love the speed limits and lane assist on this new Nuvi. Those are the primary reasons I retired the 2720. By the way, for those who have units with those features but you don't have the most recent maps, the latest map version, version 2010.40, has speed limits for the major city and county roads here on Galveston Island.
Ron, I just noticed yours is 2 years old so I'm not sure it's covered under warranty. But they'll tell you what it takes to repair yours. I think what they do is send you a rebuilt unit for whatever the charge is.

I called Garmin this morning and a very helpful tech person helped me reset the GPS. Now it works and I am a happy Camper. Sounds like you got a good deal getting the Nuvi 765T.

I'm glad you got it fixed. I know there's a way to recalibrate the screen but I'd have to dig out the manual to remember how to trigger that.
