Water Heater Question-Again
Sorry to ask but what is the relationship of the outside switch on the water heater and the inside switch on the monitor panel regarding the hot water tank?
If I want to heat the water with AC is the inside switch off and the outside switch on?

The outside switch is for heating with ELECTRIC..The inside switch is for gas operation. If you want to use ELECTRIC ONLY then the inside (gas) switch would be off) and the outside Electric would be on... If you can find your operation manual for the hot water heater and look real hard the explaination is in there..Be very careful NOT to operate the Electric with NO water in the hot water tank as it will cinder the anode..pronto.. .In our previous camper the Electric switch was inside the camper and we felt the water got hotter faster on AC..and if you are paying for electric at a CG may as well use it rather than your propane....

I think Rich intended to say heating element instead of anode otherwise he describes it well. The only thing I can add is at the inside switch (LP)
there will be a small dot to the right side of the switch. This small dot with a light on indicates that there is something not working properly on the LP system and the burner is not lighting.

Anode ..the positively charged element of a vacuum tube..it gets hot..I slipped back about 40 years there..heating element it is.. I still say mega cycles instead of mega hertz..oh well..old is old..

Just for clarity...when you decide to use the propane water heater and turn that switch ON inside the RV, the switch will illuminate, and, in addition, the little red LED light, right next to the switch, will also illuminate during the ignition cycle of the propane heater operation. That usually lasts just a few seconds, then the LED light will go out. The switch itself will remain illuminated while the propane heater selected.
We find that the propane heater seems to get the water somewhat hotter, and certainly in less time, than the electric heater. We usually keep the electric water heater on all the time, and turn on the propane heater just before shower/bath time for faster heating, then turn it off after the shower/bath time is over. Worked fine for 3 years FT.

Question: Is this "lighted switch" a feature only on the full blown Montanas? I have never noticed one on my '06 Mountaineer.
