I-10 to Fort Stockton TX

You nee to watch the traffic in the neighboring lane and weave when you see the bad spots coming. I just move over enough to straddle them.

If someone wanted to give the world an enema, they'd stick it in Ft. Stockton, Texas. Never seen such a God- forsaken place in my life! It's been awhile since we were through there, but it was the same then.

That stretch of I-10 is nowhere as bad as the stretch of 285 north of Pecos. We came through there on the 18th of March, in the rain. I'm pretty sure the beating our rig went through caused the failed bearing on our right rear wheel as we went through Laredo a couple days later. We came real close to losing the wheel, but as I carry a set of bearings, was able to gut the damaged brakes, and installed the new bearings. We made it to Penitas, and then back up to Odessa, where we had a new drum and brake/backing plate assembly sent, along with extra bearings to replace my emergency stock. These Texas roads are reason enough to boycott the state.

Last month between Van Horn TX and Tucson AZ a TX size pothole in a single lane construction zone in TX on I-10 (no way to avoid) disabled my truck transmission, might have bumped us into the ceiling if not for seatbelts, shut down the CD Player, bounced my wife's Kitchenaid mixer out of the Kitchen sink in the RV and ultimately caused my front box beam for the hitch to crack and let my trailer down onto the truck bed about 1000 miles later...
Fortunately insurance covered that collision expense and we got to spend over 2 weeks just east of Dallas while it got repaired (and rebuilt much stronger)

That stretch of I10 and a huge pot hole during a rain storm on the way to Livingston 6 weeks ago cost us a bent tie rod and 2 new front tires and wheel alignment....don't want to sicken anyone with the actual bill.....
