Graphics problems - Unofficial poll? * Updated

There have been many discussions about Montana graphics problems in the past. But I am curious as to what percentage have had a problem, and if there are any trends in those problems, such as environment, usage, storage, etc. If you are of a mind to, please answer the following, even if you have never had a problem or had a problem on a unit you no longer own. I know other brands have had problems also, but am only interested in Montanas.

Mine
Model: '07 3075RL
Problem: none
Age at occurance: N/A
Home location (state/prov): Texas
Yearly usage: 35 days mostly Texas and surrounding states
When not used: covered storage facility
Washed: twice a year using a commercial RV wash/wax

Friend (non MOC member)
Model: '08 3295RK
Problem: peeling graphics front cap & sides
Age at occurance: 2 yrs
Home location (state/prov): Texas
Yearly usage: 40 days mostly Texas and surrounding states
When not used: uncovered at home
Washed: not sure

EDIT: See status update on page 5.

2004 3295rk Purchased June 2003 Front cap decals started peeling at 2 years old. Soon to be a no name on front cap, Maybe I should use a set of magic markers to write Montana on the front cap, If I used permanent markers it would probly last longer than the decals did.

Count me in:

2007 3400RL
Peeling front and off-side
After two years
West Virginia
I would guess we used it about 45-50 days a year
Outside storage - uncovered
Washed - once a year using dish soap and simple green on tough spots (not on graphics)
Never waxed.

In August of 2007, we purchased (new) a a 2007 3585SA. Within 18 months, the graphics on the cap were starting to curl around the edges. By the time the unit was 2 years old in 2009, the side "MONTANA" graphics (the name) had cracked badly. By the end of 2009, every graphic on the rig--cap, back, and sides--had either cracked, started "bubbling," or was peeling. By the fall of 2010, pieces most of the graphics had pieces missing.

As I write this, our RV is at our dealer's having all the graphics replaced.

We have the same unit as you, just a year newer and our front cap is starting to peel. Our mountain scene on the passenger side by the bedroom window started to spider crack almost immdiately. Had that one replaced under warranty and it started to crack again within 3 months. The rest of the graphics are in good shape, a crack here or there. It sucks that the cap looks like crap.

Bill and Patricia,
I think I've read EVERY post ever made about the graphics here on the MOC. Also I have had a complete replacement of my graphics. From what I've read there is absolutely NO correlation between any environmental set of factors. Even the fact that all the graphics came from the same manufacturer does not appear to be a definitive causative element.

I wish there was an easy answer and therefore an equally easy solution! But that does not look like it is going to happen.

I think you'll get a lot of interest in this topic.

Travel safely, Dennis.

09 unit, was peeling and cracking the day we picked it up. Know a couple of other owners have just taken them off rather than deal with it. To bad they have not solved this problem over the number of years it has been a known problem.

Our 2007 Montana 3000RK has a bad case of peeling graphics, They lasted about 3 years, looks like junk now. I may let them keep peeling. Good sales add for Keystone. Bill

Don,
Now that is the answer I was looking for but you said it so well! We've both read way too many posts about this issue and we're just tired of it! But you summed it up really well! Dennis

Have 06 model purchased new in April of 06, domiciled in Indiana beside the house under a tree. Wash maybe twice a year, clean the front cap after nearly every trip to clean bugs off - use the bounce pads. Have only waxed the whole unit once (last year) since purchase. We- up to this point - have been weekend only with annual vacation trips to Florida.
We are one of the lucky ones, no graphics are peeling or cracked anywhere on the unit.

2002 3295RK almost all of the graphics needed to be replaced. The only graphics that has held up through time have been the stripes. Those couldn’t be purchased anyway.

2005 Montana,2950RK front and left side shrinking/peeling. As stated in another post,As I said in another post when parked in my yard those two sides are exposed to the sun. The right side is along the garage and has hardly any shrinkage. When this first started to happen I thought it was just my bad luck but after joining this site I found out I was not alone.

09 3585SA built in 08. Front Montana graphics and BR slide mountain scene started peeling about six months ago. Contacted Burlington this month and they said not their problem. Contacted Keystone after that and awaiting reply. Had no problem with two previous other brands.

Our 05 had major peeling issues but our 08 3585sa only has a few cracks.
I wonder if it was a Lexus or Mercedes and it had decals if we would be
talking about this? There should be more pride in whats made in America.

2010 front cap curling bad. Started at 18 months. I think this is normal. This is our third Montana from 2001 and all have had decal problems. Units sit outside year around. Wash twice a year with wash and wax.
