Replacing propane regulator

I have a new two stage regulator with the auto tank switch lever and wonder how do you attach the three "rubber" hoses without twisting the hoses. I see how you can attach one rubber hose from the tank on the passenger side with the regulator not attached but as soon as you attempt to attach the one leading to the appliances you are unable to screw it into the regulator without twisting. Of couse the pig tail one is easy since you can disconnect from the tank. What's the secret here? Thanks,

Does not one of the hoses have one end that will turn on the hose?

There should be two fitting on the end, one straight fitting into the Reg, and one Flare fitting on the end of the line. You need to disconnect the line from the straight first, then remove the straight and transfer to the new Reg. I asked myself the same question, till the Service Tech pointed out the two fittings.

Will you be more specific about that to a non mechanic? What is a flare fitting? Does it turn? I have the straight fitting disconnected from the old regulator but not the other end to the tank on the passenger side where it connects to the iron pipe. I assume you can attach one hose by spinning the regulator before you attach to the wall. I hope to avoid a trip to the dealer which is an hour away. Thanks,

Thanks for the help for a very tentative non-mechanic. The flexible line to the passenger side tank does swivel once you unscrew it and it is not in a bind. I always want to see my way clear before disconnecting things especially on a propane system. There are always shortcuts that are helpful before you screw something up. Learned there is "yellow" tape that the dealer didn't mention. Local hardware store and Trailer Life video recommended it. Thanks again for advising even on dumb questions!
