Future Montana owners, new here!

Guess I should say hi here too! Hubby and I are looking at retiring by the end of May 2020. We're currently on the hunt for a new RV, Montana 3120RL has made the top of the list. This will be our third, the first one was a fifth wheel, second a bumper pull toy hauler. DONE with toy haulers and ready to start a new chapter of RVing, and this new chapter of life.

We too are retiring in June 2020. We purchased our 3120 RL at the Portland, OR RV show last month. She's currently stored in the shop just wanting for a weekend off!

Oh, you have no idea how helpful this site has already been! I've been lurking for a while now...decided when we found the 3120 that I'd join in so I could ask questions.

Thank you!!

Thank you! I'm going to be watching and listening especially to other 3120 owners. We can't pull the trigger just yet, but I'm hoping by spring, so we can take it on an extended camping trip this summer. I'd like to have a trip or two under our belts just to make sure everything works well - or get items taken care of that I'm sure will show up!

Hi Ron!
Thanks for the invite...
Currently we're not making plans beyond the end of the week - hubby and I are working some crazy hours right now. Yeah, I'm on at work...I get off and on all day! They're OK with it as long as I get my work done...

Welcome from NC or where ever we happen to be. I'm not sure you know what you are getting into. Retirement is a tough job. I retired in March 2003. It is a difficult job but someone must shoulder the burden. I don't know how I ever found time for a job! We are on our fourth 5er, 3 Montanas.

Welcome. We spent over a year on this site (and others) before we decided to buy a 3561. I had no idea how much I didn't know and how much money I needed to spend on things (I obsessively try to plan ahead), but when we did buy we were ready to hit the road.

I can say my dealer was not a happy camper when I showed up with "The List" at our walk through but it was well worth doing.

Hi Greg!
Thanks! Yeah, We've been all over the place on different sites, etc. We started out wanting a new toy hauler. So in all the researching I've been doing for over a year now, I've found I don't want one. Our SXS weighs too much. For us to be able to get a toy hauler that can actually haul our SXS it has to have a CCC of at least 5,000 lbs - our SXS weighs 2,000 lbs. The ones with that kind of CCC are 44' long. We will not always take the SXS along, so we decided we would look at tandem towing on the trips we do take it with us. And yes, I've already done the homework concerning tandem or triple towing as well.
I've found the sales people really have no idea about the weights of the toy haulers (or any rv for that matter), the responsibility falls on the consumer to know all the numbers.
Now I'm down to the Montana because of the quality of the build and the length. We've walked through many, and the length and the floor plan of the 3120 looks like it will fit our needs better than any other. I can find many that fit the length requirement, but none that I like as well or that seem to be built as well. And when the time comes for us to purchase ours, I will have "the list" as well. Our first fifth wheel was an Alpenlite - it was a great unit. Our current RV is a bumper pull toy hauler - if we had done the kind of homework we are now doing, we would not have purchase this one. Live and learn, they say!!

Thank you! I've been in a 3120, I fell in love with it. It's just the right size, I think and has all the storage I need.

Congrats!
I recently upgraded as well. I went to the Montana 3560RL and absolutely love it.
I had a F450 DRW and traded it in for a 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 High Country SRW short bed . OMG, what a difference. Forget about how much easier it is as a daily driver. The thing pulls like the RV isn't even there and rides like a Cadillac. Just wanted to share my personal experience.
