Great Tires

Put a set of the Goodyear Endurance ST235/85R16 ilo the stock ST235/80R16 Rainiers that came with on my 2016 Montana HC 353RL. So far they have been great! No issues with the fit even though they were an inch larger in OD. Goodyear really improved these over the Marathons and build them in the US!

Why do you say the Montana wouldn't survive? Curious because we want to make the drive up there when I retire. I've driven the road many times but never pulling a 5er.

I did the same change out on my 2016 305RL. No issues with spacing and it increased the weight rating and speed rating over the original tires. Each are rated for 3640lbs at 80 psi which gives 7280 lbs for each 6000 lb axle.

I've had them for two seasons now and find they hold pressure really well, only notice a drop in pressure when it gets cold outside which is normal. It seemed the Rainers needed air at the beginning of every trip.

Tread wear isn't noticeable yet so I expect they will age out before wearing out. The Rainers actually wore out.

After doing the whole Dempster this summer, the Montana is very capable of making the trip. The Sailun tires are the type recommended for the Dempster. And the Montana is so far better built than our SOB. It was light model, and did not hold up.

You didn’t buy the wrong camper. Many members have made the trip to Alaska. All I can say is, take me. It’s my dream trip and my wife can’t go, back trouble.

I wouldn't have a bit of trouble hauling our High Country to Alaske. Anyone that thinks a Montana, regardless of model isn't capable should do his homework before he posts ridiculous statements. We haven't gone nor can go since my wife, too has back problems which limits our daily travel miles

Didn’t mean to scare you. I did the trip with a Cardinal by Forest River. 34 ft 5th wheel. Very well built. We put 17,080 miles on from time I left Denver PA. No issues except a finishing nail backed out I bathroom door trim. You might ask why I traded it and the answer is floor plan. That had a bunk house which was no longer needed.
I like the Montana but it is a constant work in process. Always something to fix. I just believe the frost boils would do it in. They are usually marked with cones but now and then they will sneak up on you.
I guess I just feel I do not want to be wrenching on it all the time. Seems like I traded in a much higher quality unit. Just my humble opinion.

Sailuns are made in China aren't they? I've had GY G614's for years, on my 3rd set, never a problem.

Sailun are made there. They have their own factory made to US and CANADIAN specs. They are not contracted out. Sailun has the best proven record of them all. On my last Montana that came with Rainier I switched to Sailun 85 with 4400# rating . The new Montana came with Sailun 80 and will be switched to 85 at the 5 year mark. IMO an E rated tire shouldn’t be on any heavy 5er.

Yes, Sailuns are Chinese, but to my knowledge, they're the only one with no complaints from us complainers. Well, I did see one, but there was no conclusion on whether or not it failed from a road hazard or improper inflation. Similarly, the GY Endurance is getting good reviews. If course, both comments are anecdotal.

Just an FYI: Sailun also has plants in Korea and Vietnam as I/ve seen Sailun tires with those Country"s name on the side wall.

They came preinstalled on my 5th wheel I only have about 1000 miles on them, I did put these put on my Denali when I had it.

Have no idea why the comment. We are making that trip towing a 38' Montana fifth Wheel this coming summer 2020. No reservations at all with my fifth wheel . The trip will be approx 10k miles over three months.

The bearings will be packed, the tires are nearly new, as well as the spare. Suspension is in good shape ,replaced the shear springs last spring. Fifth wheel is good to go. Truck will be the same when the time comes .

We have talked too, and read many reports of people that have done that trip, and never heard or read anything about a fifth wheel not being able to make it. Except for now on this thread. Granted you certainly want everything in good shape, this not a weekend camping trip .

Your post that your fifth wheel will not make the trip is an assumption, and far from a fact. Although there is some caution on that trip, and frost heaves are a concern, they are certainly not something that should prevent someone from making the trip.
