wheel bearings

I want to do my own wheel bearing replacement on my 3811 MS but have no idea how to go about order parts, which parts and from whom.
I need all the parts for all four wheels.

Any one out there who has done this and as a pseudo list?
I've read several replies about only ordering Timkim parts, other than that, I'm clue less.

Any help?

You need to know what axles are on your rig and knowing that you can reference what the spindles are on them. The spindles will dictate what grease seals you need, what inner bearing and race part numbers you need and what outer bearing and races you need. I would think that your axles were probably from dexter and should have the dexter manual supplied with your montana. It lists all the part numbers used for various axles. With those numbers, you can source from lots of sources...but yes...timkin bearings and races should be used over the Chinese parts that come from dexter, etrailer, and a lot of sources.

Unless you have a failed bearing, you should be good with just packing the bearings and installing new seals. The seals should be 10-36 seals and you would need four of them, along with maybe a pound of grease, some rags and solvent to clean the bearings of existing grease.

Do you have ez lube axles ?. If so get the wheels off the ground and pump grease in while spinning the wheels. I Pump in 30-40 pumps each spring and have had no issues.

Pull an inner and outer bearing and a seal, take to Napa or any good auto parts store and they will take care of what you need.

If you are replacing the bearings to upgrade from the Chinese bearings, then the following bearings are what will be in your 7,000 lb Dexter axles:
Your inner bearing will be a 25520 with a 25580 race, also referred to as cone and cup.
Your outer bearing and race will be a 14125A with a 14276 race.
The seal will be a 10-36, also known with the Dexter number 01003600.
Most of us who did upgrade to a better bearing went with the Timken brand, and these bearing/race numbers are industry standard numbers and will get you the Timken brand or other that you may want.
If, when you get into the hub and find you need to replace the brakes, for the left side, the backing plate brake assembly is K23-464-00, and for the right side the assembly number is K23-465-00. These numbers are for the USA made Dexter Nev-R-Adjust brakes which is what your rig will have installed.

Thanks. This is very helpful and just what I need. I have a couple of videos and will learn from them before doing this maintenance.

30 - 40 pumps of grease per spring on your Ez Lube's ??? Are you sure you haven't popped your seals ?

Recommendation is 3 - 4 pumps per bearing per year...... too much grease is worse than to little in most applications...

You read that correctly 30-40 pumps. You are supposed to pump until you see grease come back out the front bearing. I have only seen that a few times.

And my seals are fine. I have disc brakes and the entire seals are visible from the back side.

I believe those that have issues with blowing grease by the seals are not doing it correctly. The wheels must be off the ground and spinning while the grease is pumped in.

All three of the trailers I have owned have had the ez lube axles. Been greasing them this way for 15 years. In fact I have never repacked a wheel bearing on any of the 3 trailers. I do check for excessive bearing play when they are off the ground. Have never had a bearing issue. (knock on wood)
