Battery for genset.

We just bought our 2014 3150RL. It has an onan 5.5 propane. We do a lot of dry camping and in our old rig we have 4 12 volt deep start batteries. An external genset with an iota 55 amp charger. If any of you have mounted genset do you have a dedicated battery for it.. I plan on 4 batteries and wondering if I should isolate one of them for genset? Maybe with a bypass if I needed battery power if for some reason genset wouldn’t start?. I do plan on solar at a later date which hopefully would top off batts most days. Any info appreciated. Do you rely on your converter to charge your batteries or should I keep the iota?.
