Fireplace Stopped Working
While working in the trailer today DW turned on the fireplace. It was working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped working. Has no power to it. Checked and reset the breaker for the living room and nothing. Any ideas what might off happened? What to do?
Thanks!
Lou

Just a silly question, but did one of you turn the switch to the microwave? If the microwave is on then the fireplace power is off.

Doug,
No, we did not turn on the microwave while the fireplace was on. I wasn't aware that this could happen.

BillyRay,
It seems to be the power. No lights and no heat.

Lou-
I had to replace the switch that powers the microwave and fireplace. The microwave would work but when I checked voltage on the other side to the fireplace there was only 90 volts, not enough to power it up. To test the fireplace I pulled the cord out of the receptacle and inserted it into one of the receptacles in the entertainment center. Fireplace started but I was hesitant to run it from this location as it is 15amp, whereas the breaker for the fireplace is 20amp, but it is a test you can run. Replacement switch I found at Lowes for about $5.

Well today I decided to work on the fireplace. I turned it on just for the heck of it and it worked. It only lasted about 5 seconds. So I went and pull it out and noticed that the cord was barely holding on to the receptacle. I switched it to the bottom connection and now works like a champ. So it looks like the cord managed to come loose somehow. I'm a happy camper now. Thanks to all who provided me with their inputs.
Doug..I didn't know that if you have the microwave running the fireplace doesn't work.
Charlie..I'll keep in mind replacing the switch in I continue to have problems.
Happy RVing!

Lou,
The 3400RL does not have the switch between the fireplace and the microwave. If it does, I have not found it in the past 3 years. =) I have never had a problem running the microwave and fireplace at the same time. Can even run a small space heater with the two appliances going.

Thanks guys for letting me know that there's no switch for the fireplace and microwave on the 3400. As it turned out my problem was associated with the power cord coming loose from the receptacle. Everything is good now.
Thanks,
Lou
