Nev-R-Lube bearings from Dexter

Would like any "First hand knowledge" of these bearings. Having the MorRyde IS system installed with disc brakes and an option is these Nev-R-Lube bearings with 100,000 mile warranty.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.......

Thanks in advance.

Phil

I personally wouldn't hesitate and wish we had them on our units now. Autos have been using the sealed bearings for decades (had them on my 1978 Dodge front wheels). It eliminates that tempting zerk.

exav8tr,
Pros and cons. Here's my experience and mine only. When I had MOR/ryde IS installed in 2002 (didn't get the disc brakes--not enough money), I didn't have the Nev-R-Lube bearings with 100,000 mile warranty installed. Reason: not enough money at the time. Were I to have the opportunity again, I'd probably not do it since I like to have the brake linings checked at least once a year anyway.

Never Lube does not mean never inspect. I still pull my drums each year to inspect the brakes and magnets.

Phil: I have the disc brakes with never-lube hubs and they are fantastic -- heartily recommend them. I was going to get the IS system last fall and got talked out of it ($$$$ actually) so that I could get the disc brakes and never lube. If you were staying with Drum brakes I'd probably go with normal hubs but with the disc brakes you don't have to pull the rotors unless they need to be turned -- should last a long long time this way.....

That is the ultimate setup on hubs. JMHO

I had nev-r-bearings on my 3670 the first bearing got rough at 52,000 miles replaced it. They are not cheap went to Dexter in Elkart Ind. to get one. You cannot get one at local parts store for they do not stock them. Went to a bearing supplier and they cost a lot more and was hard to get if I remember mertic made in France.

I also like to have the brake linings checked every other year and that requires removing the bearings anyhow. They then are inspected and repacked. So I don't see where the never lubes buy you much. Just an opinion.

Steve, not sure I have to check the brake linings on the disc brakes, you must have missed that in my original post. It is a done deal. I had them switched last week at MorRyde. Only time will tell if I did the right thing, Hopefully I did!!!!

Phil the never Lubes are a good investment. We had them standard from Keystone on the Cambridge we pull the Cambridge better than 30,000 miles and never had a problem. Never Lube (sealed bearings) has been used in the automotive industry for a long time. The great thing is you don't have to pull the bearings to closely inspect the brake pads, and the rotor. And with a 100,000 warranty you are covered and how many pull a 5th wheel a 100,000 and not have to spend money on bearings. Dexter will stand behind you also. And another point is most RV parks don't allow you to pack wheel bearings and since your full timing that want be a problem for you. You made a great choice. GBY...

Phil, I did see that in your original post but CRS set in and I forgot it by the time I replied. Sorry. You'll still need to check the pads occasionally but probably not as often as linings on shoe brakes.
