Montana - Route to GNP
Can anyone advise the best route to take across Montana to Glacier National park.
I will be coming from North Dekota on route 94.

Depends how you define "best." We came back from Glacier via Rt, 2 (northen route) to Ft. Peck and then dropped south to Glendive, 2 is pretty boring but no passes and little traffic. Whatever you decide, I encourage you to spend a few days at Medora, ND on the way. Great people, great show (Medora Show been running for 40 yrs.), Teddy Roosevelt NP w/wild buffalo and horses, prairie dogs, and the Cowboy Cafe for breakfast. We stayed at Johnson's CG in St. Mary, did the Park, and drove up to Waterton. See the Prince of Wales Hotel there. Gorgeous! Good luck and PM me if you want additional info.

You could drop down on interstate 90 outside Billings, MT and take in Yellowstone before heading up to Glacier.
Flathead Valley is beautiful this time of year. Cherries will be in season shortly. Western MT is much more scenic than the eastern portion. It might be more scenic to go 90, then head north to Glacier via Missoula.

I agree, The drive is pretty from Missoula to Kalispell. You go through Polson and lakeside both of which are very pretty. There is another route from Missoula through the Swan Valley. The advantage with this route is it is less busy( brings you out near Bigfork)and there seems to be less of the summer construction going on. Either way you will have a great time.

We took the route Sean mentioned, from Missoula to Kalispell through Polson, and it was very pretty even in July. It's a good road and easy tow. Same for what we've seen of US 2 from west of Glacier to I-15 (far as we went on US 2).

If you're thinking about Yellowstone also, go there before Glacier. Otherwise you will be disappointed in Yellowstone. Glacier National Park is awesome. The scenery is breathtaking.

For what it's worth, when we went from Minnesota, we took the southern route to Yellowstone, then to Glacier, and then the northern route home to Minnesota again.
I can't tell you the roads without looking at a map, but it is fairly straight forward. Brace yourself for a boring ride until you get to the mountains - this is one time driving in the cool part of the day (early morning - as in dark) is a good thing.
