Cabinet Screw Holes Stripped
Some of my cabinet screws were coming loose but when I tried to tighten them I found that; on some of them, the screw hole was stripped. Has anyone else had that problem? Whats the most effective remedy?

you could try filling hole with elmers and toothpicks let it set up and reinstall screw, or I have known some to fill with plastic wood filler, let dry and re-screw

I have put wooden stick matches in the hole and re-screwed it.

I had a couple do that and used larger screws with an old fashioned regular non electric, non automatic clutch, hand held screw driver. I also put in a little wood glue also.... I follow function over form....Some need the same screws, I don't. Not really concerned about resale value, this is my home for the next 8 years anyway.....

We had several stripped cabinet screws in our late 2006 3400RL and for those cabinet doors that fell off in travel, I filled the stripped screw holes with wood glue and wood tooth picks, waited 24 hours and re-installed. We had the dealer do the rest under warranty, which was about half of the screws on the cabinet doors. They haven't come loose since.

After reading about stripped screws on this forum we checked ours shortly after taking home our 06 3400. We found 23 stripped screws. Used the old round toothpick in the hole trick and they have held for 33 months. I would suggest you check ALL cabinet screws to avoid cabinet doors from falling off.. That issue was supposed to have been resolved at the factory some time ago....guess not....

I used the round tooth picks without glue, but I would take a hammer and tap a few into the hole, one at a time, until they broke at the hole entrance. Any left over stick out would come off with a knife or razor blade. Never had one come back out of a hole that was fixed.

Waynem has it right. Old carpenters trick. Works well. My dad was a fine carpenter.

Can't add anything to this thread. Everyone has the right method: toothpicks and Elmer's Glue. It's a tried and proven method for repairing stripped holes in wood. Have used this method for over 60 years. Try it.

Yeppers that's the fix and yeppers it happens all the time as you can see.
The Big Sky now uses the hidden hinge which I believe eliminates that problem. Not sure if they went to that hinge on the new Monty Hickory Edition or not.

I like to use gel super glue instead of wood glue because I am impatient.

If the hole is large enough, a golf tee and wood glue works well. I've used that method on the stick house door hinges for years.

Like others, I use toothpicks. If I find one where the hole goes all the way through, then I add some elmers glue to keep the toothpicks in place. This has held very well. I even used this with one screw hole in the fender skirt where a screw would not stay in. It does now.
