511
I stopped at AAA the other day for information and tour books. While there, I asked if there was anyway that I could get up-to-date travel information about road closings, and there is. Here is the website, I'm using Pa. for an example.
www.511pa.com
This 511 gives you road closings due to construction, weather related closing, parades & etc.
You can use 511 for any state, just change it to the state that you are interested in.
It is helping us plan our trip to the rally.

A lot of states also have a service where you can dial 511 on your cell and get current road conditions. Here is a link to another useful website: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/trafficinfo/

I tried the www.511or.com for Oregon and it didn't work. Maybe it is only for some of the states and Oregon hasn't gotten on board yet? The .gov address Jackel gave did work though.
I'm envious of you all going to the rally- maybe next year for us!

Appears that it doesn't work for a lot of states. I just tried KS, NM, NE, and IA - the only good one was IA.

Typically the states don't cooperate. Everyone has a better way. In Kansas you have to go to 511.ksdot.org

Marge,
Like Dick and Joyce said; It is too bad the states don't have a uniform system. They're all over the place with their www addresses. Some are coms and others orgs and yet gov for some. Some have the two letter state abbreviation while others have the full name. Some have the state thing before the 511 others after. You really would need to actually know what each state uses to make it really seamless and efficient. Great idea just too bad it's not uniform. But sure nice info to have..... Thanks for posting. Happy Trails, Dennis.
