Hardwired surge protection

Has anybody installed a hardwired surge protector in their 5er? I guess some of the newer models come with it. We have a 2008 2955rl, and am thinking of hardwireing one in because otherwise I would need to lug a 50 AMP and a 30 AMP portable type...then worry about theft. Or do I?
Thoughts....

Thank you in advance

I put one in mine and it was pretty easy. Mounted it under the stairs by taking the pass through storage wall out. There was enough slack in the factory wiring to allow plenty of wire to work with. The hardest part is working with the stiff wire.

You would only need a 50 amp device and could use adapters to hook to a 30 amp park power source.

If you went with the portable model, you would only need the 50 amp model, as you would either plug it into the 50 amp outlet on the pedestal or the 30 to 50 amp dogbone. I was lucky on our rig, as the panel and wiring is above the closet and accessed on the wall behind the toilet. I just purchased 5 ft length of the same cable that runs from the shore cable inlet to the panel, moved the end of the trailer cable from the panel to the EMS and connected the load side of the EMS to the panel with the short piece of cable.

Stevehop, Installed a Progressive 50 amp in my 2009, 2955. Accessed the area through the garage on the curb side, through the panel close to the stairs. not a huge amount of area there, but enough to install it there as that is where the service line is located to connect the surge protector. My son installed it as he is a sparky. Had it installed pretty quick.

Regards, Keith

If you have a generator or at least the gen prep, you can access the power feed at the Transfer switch in the gen/battery area.

Stevehop, I located the digital readout in the garage on the same wall we accessed to install the surge protector.
