Washing Machine - Musty
We've been full-timing for about a year now. (2018 3950BR). It's going very well so far, though I wish I'd gotten a dishwasher. But that's another thread.
Here's my question. We have a stacked Splendide washer and dryer setup. They work wonderfully, but we've noticed that if you leave the washer door closed, even when empty, it gets "musty" in there and kind of quickly.
We've done the bleach-out cleaning and we've done the 'run it on 3 hot cycles' and that does a little to help, but it's kind of a hassle and doesn't really "fix" anything so much as mitigates it for a while.
To be clear, the clothes don't come out smelly or anything. We're usually quick to move them to the dryer anyway. We tend to leave the washer door open when not in use, though that does encroach on the bedroom space a bit. When we are towing, obviously, this has to stay closed.
I'm wondering if this is something other users have experienced and what they have done to resolve it?
It's not a "problem" as such, but it is annoying.

The washers are built almost identical to the front loaders for the sticks and bricks as far a sealing goes. The seals and gaskets are the main problems. And leaving the doors open is a must when not in use. You can read online until your fingers are numb and your eyes pop out about how to resolve. Trust me, the true fix is white vinegar. Pour 1/2 cup in every load for a while. You will see a difference. Your clothes won’t smell like vinegar. It took us 1 1/2 gallons of vinegar over a short time, and the musty smell is totally gone. Now we just use vinegar once or twice a month as a precautionary measure. And keep that door always open. Good luck.

On our Splendide you had to remove the front lower panel and then unscrew the plug in the right corner and then clean that area out. Lent and other stuff would accumulate there.

Thanks. I’ll try both of these.

Also, when running the bleach cleaning cycle, be sure to add an extra gallon of water after it fills, otherwise you just clean right up to what stinks because the sensor shuts the water off. Let it soak for an hour or 2
