We came, we saw, we left.
IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME.
Did not manage a sunset (RATS!!!) and did not do a helicopter ride, could have used another day or so to do those.
Wanted to thank ya all again for all the fine input.
And, a word to the wise or those going to visit soon.
Reminder, if you want to be IN the park you will need to make reservations VERY early, guessing the earlier the better.
If you stay out of the park, the closest one is the one we stayed in - - that Grand Canyon Camper Village. It is the last business before the park, 1 mile from the gate. Be warned, there are only a few 50 AMP sites, a lot of the 30 AMP sites don't have full hookups. They are pricy, well DUHHH, they told us that the MickeyDees in town (you could walk from the campground) is the most expensive MD's in the USA! SIGH Lets face it, everything is expensive near the GC.
All this is still ok, 30 AMPs will suffice unless it is over 95 degrees and you need to run 2 Airs. The staff we interacted with were nice and all.
BUT, and this is a HUGE BUT, this campground has one of the top 10 worst dumps we have ever had the displeasure to have to use. EWWWW. There was no hose, if you had any spillage, and there is a distinct possibility that you WILL, if you can figure a way to rinse it down, there is no place for the rinsed stuff to go, except in the grass.
Hope ya all have a grand visit to the Grand Canyon, we sure did, even with the 'one of the top ten' worst dumps!
