Wyoming interstate 90 travel conditions

Hi Happy Campers.
What are the thoughts about towing on interstate 90 around the middle of Oct going east to west? We see temps in the 20's and snow starting to be in the forecast already. Do they maintain it pretty well during the day? This trip was supposed to be for September, except for conditions beyond our control, but now may be October depending on Hurricane Rita's damage and the gas supply from Texas.
Your thoughts are valuable. Thankyou, Earl

I have hunted out that way the past 8 years in October and the weather has never been bad. If it does get bad, they barricade the highway. You shouldn't have a problem in October. November can be a different story. Now, once you get in the mountains, it is also a different story. We went as far as Sheridan, Wy. Always had good weather.

june2005,
I go to Chicago from Spokane,WA every year the first part of October and do not come home until second week of November. I take I-90 all the way to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota can be stunning during the fall months, but snow is also a 100% chance. I have been through many great snow storms in those states, but if you travel during the day time your chances are pretty good to have better roads. If the roads get too bad the state will drop gates across the interstate and close it. I say go for your trip, just plan a few extra days in each direction for possible delays. I will be looking for Montana's on the road, I will not have my coach this trip but will flash if I see ya.

I also go out there every year in Oct and Nov. You shouldnt have any problems, just stay heads up on the weather and you'll be ok. Even if it gets bad, they will get it cleared off after the storm. This time of year its hit or miss and you just have to go do it. It,s kind of like the rain here in Fla. Drive a mile down the road and it may stop. Enjoy
