Funnel for your fresh water

I've had this for quite a while, and thought I should pass this on, as several onlookers were impressed over this last week...

When we dry camp for a spell, we can run low on fresh water. We use several 5 gallon water jugs as backup.

I created a funnel for the fresh water supply by cutting a 3 inch by 5 inch patch out of the SIDE of a 1.75 liter liquor bottle. The neck of the bottle is perfect for the fresh water opening, a two liter soda bottle would be too small.

Have someone hold the bottle in the fresh watter opening, rotate it so the open patch is on the top (of course), and pour away. Does require two folks.

And I tried one of the 7 gallon blue jugs from Wally World - 55 pounds is too much!!!

Al, I have a 5 gallon jug as well. However, my solution was to put a water thief on the spiget, attach my normal fresh water hose and put the jug on the roof of my truck. This makes it a one person operation.

Both good ideas. Have to see if we have a l.75 bottle around somewhere. I have been trying to think of some easier way to get some javex, or clorox, into the fresh water without having to worry about getting some on the side of the unit.

We have 6 gal jug, with a lid that has a pipe thread opening in the middle. I attached a hose adapter and a short length of flexible tubing. This makes it easy to fill without spilling. (Well maybe not "easy", but at least do-able).
