window tinting

We've been full-timing in our 3280RL since last summer. We're spending the next few months out west where the sun doth shine. A lot!

We're considering window tinting to cut down on the heat build up during the day. Our poor air conditioner just can't keep up with the Nevada sun.

What do others think about window tinting? Good idea? A waste of money?
Will it help?

Dennis and HollyAnn, the Tarheels

We have tint one window (the large one). It helps keep things cooler.

We tinted the windows on the east side of the house and noticed a major difference.
We have the window shades and they help keep the direct sun out so that is an option too.
Cheers,

I don't know if it's tinted or not but Steve and Vicki Reigle put some sort of film on the inside of their rig and say it helps a lot in keeping the rig warm. Don't know why it wouldn't also help keep it cool in the summer. But you'd better ask them. I do not have any first hand experience.

If you don't already have the 2nd AC and you're going to spend summers in NV then you should get it. Look around and you can find some pretty good deals.

Good luck.

Tinting is well worth the money. Our Montana came with all the windows deep tinted, and we had the truck done the same way. Makes a huge difference in the summer...anywhere.
