"Must Haves"

Hi! As my better half puts it I am the "inside person". Can anyone share what they feel are "must haves" for the inside of the trailer. Gadgets, and such?

If you're like us and one is always cooler than the other one a small protable heater and a fan are essential. Also like Lynwood, some for of self protection. In my case an over/under 410 that fits in the palm of my hand.

Mine is a 2007 3075RL, but is similar to your floorplan.
DW is the TV and movie person so I upgraded both original TVs to larger LED TVs and satellite. And replaced the old DVD/surround sound system after the original failed. Added a fireplace below.
My dining table did not have a swivel like some newer years, so I added a swivel so that I can turn the table to make it easier to access the kitchen with the slides in.
Never knew I would need a 50 amp extension cord until after about 6 yrs I finally encountered a site where my standard power cord would not reach. Friendly park employee let me borrow his.

I'm hip on the need for home protection but have any of you been in a situation where you're glad you had it with you? if so, what were the conditions? meth heads; bad part of town?

I carry a S&W Governor, 1st two rounds are 410 #6 shot, next two are 410 triple 000 buck, and final two are 45 ACP. But I can honestly say that I have never been in any situation while RVing that I felt any remote need for it. But we don't boondock and never stay in parking lots or rest areas.

The answer is yes. I had a situation 4 years ago that I thought I was going to haft to kill a drunk. My wife and I was going down to West Yellowstone and he came up to my truck foaming at the mouth cussing so I rolled up my window. We were stopped for road construction for 20 minutes and not knowing what this guy was going to do I went back to my camper to get the 45 and here he came again. It seams we weren't driving fast enough even though we were going the speed limit and over. I got in my camper, had both hands on the 12 gage. I was calm and cool and thought if he came in the camper I would invite him to leave and if he came past the refrigerator I would cut him in to with the 12 gage 3 inch mag loaded with no 4 shot.
You never know when you might need a gun but don't ever even show a gun unless you are forced to. That will ruin your vacation to use one that will ruin several years of your life.

Yes, several times. I try to walk two miles everyday and when you're in strange area's you don't know where the pit bulls and farm dogs are. Never had to shoot one (they seem to realize if you point something at them while hollering "NO" and aren't afraid they should reconsider) but it's been real close a couple of times.

Thanks for feedback! I can say that we haven't felt the need to defend ourselves however I can see where it might come in handy while boondocking or secluded areas. You never know! The only thing we really have to equip our rig with is Thermacells, tiki torches and bug spray as defense against mosquitos!

Euro-style leather swivel recliner chairs and matching footstools to replace the crummy OEM ones that came with the rig.

Saeco Syntia super-automatic espresso machine, an essential part of waking up! Usually make double or triple shot lattés.

Oh yeah, and a Breville automatic milk frother, it's much quieter than using the steam wand on the espresso machine.

One of those small freezers to put in the basement, because the freezer in the rig is just too damn small.

Overall it is similar to whatever gadgets make home life comfortable, just smaller/more portable versions. I'll second the command strip hooks/baskets. Once you live in it for a few trips, you quickly learn where stuff gathers and can use them to get items on the wall and off counters or hooks for jackets, towels, hotpads, keys, etc. Also tools in the rig (basics inside and the rest in the basement) to do general repairs. as far as coffee, I use a single serving French press as my DW doesn't drink coffee and have a tea kettle to boil the water for the coffee (supports boon docking more) as well as hot chocolate, instant oatmeal, etc. A storage bin in the pantry with all the spices to keep them in one place and we can pull the bin out when cooking and put it back when done.

An ottoman with storage is very handy. Also, stick on lights for under counter and inside cabinets, shelves for inside pantry and cabinets, double-sided Velcro and 3M Command stick on hooks.
