I did not have much chucking (and I agree it is the push/pull effect you get on some highways) on our Monte except on some concrete highways. I added a 5th Airborne pin box and it greatly reduced what little chucking we had. Still a small amount but only on certain concrete highways.

As for air bags i have the Firestone's and love them. I didn't add the compressor at first, big mistake. Now I have the compressor mounted under the truck and way easier to inflate the bags

I have 'learned' to live with some chucking - from reading I've learned that it is a combination of tow vehicle and trailer length, wheel to wheel length, type of road - asphalt or concrete, and then concrete expansion joints/cuts which seem to be relatively the same distance apart. Vehicle hits a bad cut/expansion joint, bounces a bit, then trailer hits it, bounces a bit but the truck hasn't finished its bounce (or is at the next one already) so we feel it as either a tug or a push. Can be rather noticeable at times. Truck length (wheel base) makes a difference - one truck will have no problem, another longer (or shorter) will feel it.

Went to Utah this past June - we experienced a good deal of chucking on I-25 from Denver north while we were in a caravan with others. I mentioned it at one stop and a fellow driver said he had none - offered to trade drivers for a short while. His truck was steady (no chucking) and he came back and was amazed. Once we got on I-80 west bound mine cleared up but the road also got much better.

Sorry for the long post.

James, I have a 3500 RAM SRW and a 3402rl at 16000 gross. I put firestone bags on the RAM and a moryde pin box. B&W hitch, I installed everything myself and adjusted the hitch head as forward and high as it would go. This set up resulted in the most perfect, smooth ride I have ever had! It “flows” like one unit! Got lucky, but i’ll Take it!
