Colorado 160 Durango to Walensburg

We will be in Durango for several days and then heading to Denver. Was going to go to Montrose but scrubbed that with the new Mountaineer. Don't feel comfortable hauling that over that road. I drove it once about 8 years ago in Astro Van. Beautiful but not very forgiving.
So we intend to go to Denver from Durango via 160 to Wahlensburg then I25 to some point above Denver. I have drive 160 also and it is a nice drive as I recall and should be no problem with the 335RLBS behind but it is a pretty long stretch. Anyone think otherwise?
Thanks
Bob

You should have no trouble on that route at all. If you are familiar with Wolf Creek Pass, you know that will be your only 'high pass'. LaVeta pass is one of the easiest in Colorado. We were over that route last Summer. There was construction on both sides of Wolf Creek Pass, but otherwise we had no difficulty. We were pulling our 2955 Montana with our 2500 Duramax. I know your reluctance to go via Ouray and Montrose. I have been over that route many time, but never since we have been towing.
