Question about arrival date/time

I wondered if it's better to come in on Tuesday and if so would that be an additional fee payable directly to the Fair office?

Yes, you need to make arrangements and payment with the fairgrounds for any extra day(s) as stated in the Rally info:

The MOC does NOT handle early arrivals, that is the responsibility of the attendees to make their own arrangements with the Fairgrounds. You should also note that you may have to move to your assigned site once the rally begins. .

It is not unusual for people to arrive early on Monday and/or Tuesday.

You can arrive early, a lot of us do. Check with the Fair Office to check if your site will be available. If not, there are plenty of available sites on the grounds. The Fairgrounds will charge for additional nights.

How about late arrivals? We may be interested in trying to attend but would not be able to arrive until sometime Sunday. Would be still be able to attend Monday and Tuesday activities?

You still have to "Register" for the Rally by the deadline this Thursday and will have to pay the $75.00 registration fee.

Also, you will have to arrange for camping at the Fairgrounds or other campgrounds in the area on your own. If you reserve at site at the Fairgrounds, you will not be camping in the main Rally area but could be close by.

I understand that the additional nights would be payable to the fairground if we arrive early; what I'm not sure of is what you mean by "if your site will be available." Does the fairground office have the list of sites and who they're assigned to for the duration of the rally?

If it works like it has for the past few years, the sites for the attendees of the Rally are assigned by the MOC Administrators(the Wagon Master has nothing to do with the assignments)shortly after the close of registration. This does not mean it will be done instantly the day after the close of registration. The site assignments will be posted here on the Fall Rally section of the Forum as soon as they get them assigned. The campground normally will receive a list of who is assigned to each site when the Administrators get it set up! Hope I'm not stepping on any toes by answering the question! See everyone in Goshen in about a month!

We plan to be at the fairgrounds by the thursday before....
so much to see and do in the area.
From the fairgrounds website - there is no rally the week before MOC.

Since you are registered and will have your site assignment in advance you may arrive at any time. You just may not have a site escort if you arrive too early

There is not a rally for about two weeks before ours starts . You will not know your site assignment till the MOC administrator post them. They are not yet as of this date posted .The fairground office WILL have a copy of site assignments .I called yesterday and let them know we would be in Monday. They took my name and will make a two day early reservation at our ASSIGNED site as soon as they get the site assignments.

It is a big fairgrounds even if you do not have your site assignment there will be room for early arrivals. Remember there will be a rally there in the very same area we are in about two weeks before ours begins. The fairground office number is....574-533-3247. Web site is

http://4hfair.org/ If you have never been there take a look. Click on RV rallies for rally information.

Ok. Thanks Steve (and Rich). We will be at Shipshewana for a few days before the rally but will not be arriving until that Wednesday. We have attended several Fall Rallies and know our way around so site escorts will not be needed. In fact, once we get in and settled, we could assist with placement. Have done this in the past.
