Roof Vents

I was wondering if anyone had a problem with condensation on the metal ring around the roof vents. It sweats in the inside of the trailer to the point of dripping. This happens when we are heating the trailer on cold nights. I have stopped most of the condensation on the windows by using a de-humidifier, but has no effect on the roof vents. Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have John

John: I have never had any problem with our vents dripping or sweating. Our windows sweat a bit when it is really cold, but not to the point of running. On really cold nights we put the vent pillow in the vents to keep the heat in.

John we where told to leave the lid open just a very small amount in our travel trailer and that stopped the problem, we do the same in the Montana and have not had a problem with condensation. Roman

Yeah it happens, not in Canada but down south. Make sure nothing you don't want to get wet spends the night under a roof vent.

John, I don't think this is normal. We've been in hot, cold, dry, humid, and anything/everything inbetween and the only time I saw a leak from a vent was when I had a roof leak that traveled across the "attic" to the vent. That was on an old Leer slidein camper years and years ago. Can you drop the shroud around the vent from the ceiling and see if the insulation around the vent area is wet? If you perhaps have a roof leak, remember the water can travel to the vent from a long ways away. Let us know what you find out. I'm sure this info will be valuable to many of us.

I've never had an RV that didn't sweat around the vents.

Humans exhale lots of moisture with every breath, and in a relativly well sealed environment it will certainly raise the humidity.

High humidity + cold spot = condensation. Usually right over the bed!
