Cherokee KOA, North Carolina

We are heading out to Cherokee/Great Smokey Mts KOA next week and was wondering if anyone from the forum had been there and had any words of wisdom to share. I was told by someone from the park that I should enter the park from the South because of the switchbacks and grade of the road from the North.
