HIDE-A-BED MATTRESS REPLACMENT

Would someone be so kind as to send me the measurements of a Hide-A-Bed mattress in their unit.

We have a 2000 Montana 2750 Model and would like to upgrade the mattress. The problem is our unit is in a Storage Lot with a Cover on it plus can't put the slide out either and don't have anyway to get a measurement.

I thought about purchasing the following from a news ad - but not sure about the size.

HIDE-A-BED SLEEPER SOFA REPLACEMENT MATTRESS. IT WILL WORK ON ANY FULL MECHANISM. MATTRESS HAS SPRINGS INSIDE JUST LIKE A REGULAR MATTRESS. SIZE IS 52" WIDE 72" LONG AND 5" THICK. COMES WITH A 5 YEAR WARRANTY.

Appreciate your input. Thanks

Our unit is close to yours.

I purchased a a 5 x 6ft spring mattress and threw the original away. I is just over 4 inches thick and it takes away the "bar" in your back. Just go to some furniture stores that sells hide a beds and ask for the spring mattress. I paid about 165 for it and it has been worth it.

Glad to hear about the fact that you can replace that mattress. We may have my Mom (almost 80) traveling with us and I was dreading having her sleep on that mattress. Didn't hurt so bad watching my teenage sons on it, but Mom? We have a better one here at the house and I was just going to swap them.

I would interested in hearing how the other mattress that you were going to try works out. Some folks at an RV show told me they may be to thick and not fold up properly. I have not located a store that sells hid-a-bed mattress but will continue looking.
Thanks.

I have the same mattress on my hide-a bed in the house. The springs make all the difference. That's why a lot of furniture stores sell it. Hide-a-beds are pretty useless without a good mattress.

Would you mind telling me what store you purchased your mattress. I have called around and no one seems to carry them -- will continue calling just thought a little more info may help. Thanks

I use an egg crate (cheap from Walmart) on top of the pad that came with it. Makes a world of difference, however, you must remove it and store it each time you use it or you cannot close the sofa. We only use the sofa once or twice a year so, it is not a real problem. The bar in the back is brutal... They should make the designer of that pad sleep on it -- bet he/she would come up with a better idea!

Does your 2000 Monty have gutters on the top -- right under the wrap of the rubber roof? Ours does not -- thinking about adding if not to expensive.

Another choice you could consider is buying a queen size memory foam mattress topper (2" thick) and put it on top of the hide a bed mattress. We bought one at Costco early last year to use it on top of the main bedroom mattress. It works great and only cost about $100.
